In this case, it seemed to me, however, so that simply can not find any good alternatives to this lens in this price range. The values are good, the first test in the usual journals with questionable journalistic standards of course, thanks to printed Manufacturer press releases. So I try it.
With 3.5 this optics is relatively strong and the light over the entire focal length range. This can be seen immediately on the first images of dubious lighting. The focus is - for my taste - good to very good. Sharpness is supported but clearly also with this objective by stopping down, quite frankly so here's a little weakness. This I recognize, however, only on the computer with corresponding types enlargement ...
The vignetting is for me at this lens is not a problem. Although they exist in the peripheral areas of the image, but really is not very pronounced and negligible in my view.
The package includes a quiver for storage, which makes a pretty good impression. No comparison to the super cheap bags at Nikon.
The optics even makes a very high-quality impression, only the surface finish does not correspond to 100% my taste. But the workmanship, material, feel, everything makes a high quality impression.
The lens is quite heavy and fits comfortably in your hand. The large front cap diameter of 82mm the lens on my D300 looks quite balanced, on a D5000 it may seem clunky and make the camera top-heavy.
Zoom and manual focus are well damped and make the operation a good impression. Everything can be adjusted precisely.
The autofocus works well and as quickly as I would have a good Nikkor also expected.
All in all, my first Sigma a good decision. Especially since I bring only high Amateur claims, I do not consider myself a professional. Of course I also know that the lens will not be the reason why my pictures are still poorly :-)
One point deduction I forgive because the surfaces of the lens. That is not in my opinion meet the expectations of buyers in this medium but high price region. Others do better.
