Unfortunately, I have no alternative to the Hörmann devices because the rented house a garage door from Hörmann is now again installed. The performance (coverage and battery life) is a joke. This is in the case of 40.685 MHz version partly technological reasons, but partly also due to the bad processing.
This is the third generation of 40.685 MHz equipment that is used with us. Reason: A fall on the garage floor and the chances are great that the remote control is useless. After all, gave me this opportunity to open the two predecessors and to investigate the cause.
Results: The case is not protected against shocks at all. The board rests on fragile plastic pins, also with no shock absorption. The antenna consists of a coil wound around a ferrite core thin wire which is soldered at each end with weak-solder pads on the board. In both cases, after the fall of at least one of these was broken solder joints. Because of the clumsy device board layouts that resoldering to a microsurgical procedure.
Given the quality of the catalog price is a rip off, the cheapest price just about acceptable.
