Spigots are generally calculated in inches and either round or hexagonal 5/8 "or 16mm diameter. On both sides of each either a male (= screw) or female (= internal) thread with 1/4" or 3 / 8 "diameter. This results in a large number of possible combinations.
A spigot should be made of a hard, resistant material. Well, that's widespread brass or iron rarer. Aluminum is too soft and easily torn off (mainly the thread).
The Manfrotto Stud MA 037 is hexagonal, and thus ideal for the Manfrotto 035 Super Clamp suitable (my review here explains why). At one end there is a 1/4 "- on the other a 3/8" external thread (male). With 25mm brass bolt has fallen rather short and sinks completely into the Super Clamp. A screwed object can thus use the bracket as a support surface, which in larger masses (eg, a camera) for significantly more stability.
The spigot is meticulously crafted, there are no sharp edges or burrs. The material makes a very robust impression.
With prices from just 10 (of May 2011 incl. Postage) certainly not a bargain for such a simple piece of metal on the other hand, the spigot is indestructible and will likely be lost as broken. Therefore, a strong buy recommendation.
