Quite a few people think Marshall Bruce Mathers III simply one of the greatest rappers of all time. And indeed he has proven since its independent debut "Infinite" that he lyrically playing in the top league. When he retired after the rather mediocre work "Encore" for 5 long years from the Rapgeschäft and had to overcome a lot of personal problems, he now returns to bring some fresh air into Rapgeschäft. And this with the most anticipated rap album 2009: "Relapse". As expected, almost over the entire production his friend and mentor Dr. Dre. Also typical are the skits, of which there are a total of 5. But now to the music. The very first track after the splendid intro ensures goosebumps: "3 AM". A door opens and a typical squeaky Dre beat kills the listener literally. Slim Shady lets us participate in a drug trip and told in this second single, a disturbing story about him as a serial killer [Bridge after 2nd chorus: "She puts the lotion in the bucket, it puts the lotion on the skin, or else she gets the pants again ... On Relapse, the spirits who condemn it as an album which would be a rather never been published, the fans who in turn awarded the status of classics earlier divorce. In the end there are here the same ingredients that Mr. Mathers have already done on previous albums for the most rap star on the planet: murder and manslaughter ("3 AM" or "Insane"), Celebrity Verarschende Popsingles ("We Made You" ), the Paul Rosenberg / Steve Berman Skits and billing with his mother (eg, "My Mom"), now supplemented by the drug thing. But just because the problem might be. Since "The Eminem Show" seven years have passed and it seems that Marshall had already told us the most, as if he had to say anything new. Apart from that and the strange accent he uses here, he is still one of the best rappers in the game. There is no doubt about it, even after this album. The quality of the production as a whole is excellent, but perhaps one or another producer from outside the Shady / Aftermath clique would have been good in terms of variety of the disc. Dre's productions are partly inspired, but elsewhere there is still the impression that they have to beat similarly heard that before. Allen doomsayers the conclusion to Relapse is largely positive. Some tracks (My Mom, Same Song & Dance, Stay Wide Awake, Beautiful z. B.) on the album surpass my expectations and make the less good "Encore" almost forgotten.
