Promising start with room for improvement.

Juneau grew up in the belief that civilization is like the Third World War and the ensuing nuclear disaster victim. A group of people managed to escape the war and open up a new habitat in the Alaskan wilderness. There they live to this day. But when Juneau one day from a hunting trip comes home, she finds her leave camp and only massacred Huskies are evidence of a violent abduction of their people. The young girl gets to persecution, but when she comes after a long journey to the edge of the former civilization, they can not believe their eyes ...

Opinion:
"After the End" by Amy Plum turned out to be true read surprise, but not for the reason that it has pleased me so excessively well, but because I had totally different expectations of history. Maybe I should get used to me time to read the blurb in more detail, but I wanted so clueless dive into the action as possible. Clean the cover and title ago I have just presented a post-apocalyptic setting, but it then came quite differently.

Had I the summary given more time, then I would have been somehow aware that all the talk of the Third World War and the nuclear disaster is complete nonsense. But if I had the same level of knowledge of our protagonist and was suddenly very surprised that the civilization is completely in tact and the action takes place in our times, and not somewhere in the future. To me the story was already right at the beginning - rather involuntarily - surprise, although I must admit that I then was a little skeptical because I just did not know, what should now happen so exciting.

But I must confess that I know the plot has actually fallen quite well. Amy Plum arouses curiosity, in which she never reveals too much. Juneau is not like an ordinary girl, but has special skills and on the plot builds up in the then little by little it becomes clear what's so special about the girl and why was kidnapped their whole communities and why Juneau World War III has been fooled and why it is a target for some people. This touch of Sci-Fi I liked right and I can imagine that in the continuation of the action only really gets going, the fact has been missing here in the first volume a little. Here and there it is indeed time empyreumatic, but really I was carried away by exciting promotions unfortunately never so real.

Best of all in the book but has me anyway the chemistry between Juneau and Miles liked. The story is always told in the exchange from the perspective of two characters and the meeting was really nice and funny, because Miles has this weird humor and Juneau is opposite him so quick-witted class - which I liked really well. In addition, it makes the author between the two is not too obvious and all the exuberant "I love you till the day I die" - crap is beautiful left in the drawer. Toll! A little bit strange but I have Juneaus behavior felt when she then encounters civilization. For my taste, it comes there rightly too easy - for a girl who had been living in the wilderness, she succeeds far too easily and their first shock dissipates too quickly. Apart from that I liked it very much, because she is self-confident, clever and not a timid girl.

Conclusion:
In "After the End" I would read my blurb exactly I let myself be influenced by namely title and cover so that I was surprised when the action has gone in a completely different direction than I would have initially suspected. This can lead to nasty surprises, but need not - because I did not even this futuristic plot fallen woman and Plum knows how to make the audience curious. Here and there a little more voltage would have the action but not hurt, but I felt "After the End" as a good start, if only because the protagonist couple was able to convince!
