A film on the iPad I think not beautiful, therefore the cover to protect the display when used on the iPad / stowed.
For those who want to feel the Apple material instead PU, leather or other plastic, the cover is wonderful. If one uses the iPad, you can easily solve the cover completely, because it is only attached magnetically. So one has quickly the thin iPad in hand, with no frills. If one it again or stowed it, you only need to push ahead the cover, the magnet attracts everything in the right position and close; finished.
One should avoid drawing on the cover to raise the iPad. If the back is too strong, the magnet is too weak and the cover dissolves. The iPad falls .... has not happened yet, but it could happen.
Caution: The underside of the iPad of course remains unprotected and scratched. If you want to get a high resale value, must use a Case or very very very strong watch.
