This excellent book was inadvertently listed in the collections for young people as it is for adults it is primarily intended. It makes you think about the disorientation of children when left in total freedom and some prohibitions (eg. "Do not kill" ...) essential to life in society. These boys yet civilized and having received good education "so British" quickly lose control over themselves when they find themselves on a deserted island after a crash and quickly indulge their destructive instincts. They become very quickly savages, with no "look" adult to guide them, go to the end of their hatred ... And yet we feel when finally arrives lifesaving vessel how much they needed this presence adult, how much she had missed them and how much they are relieved to return to the ranks. To think more than ever. Unfortunately the translation is ... what it is and the translator does not let transform palm-trees poplar (I think, unless it is pine? It does not make me the copy I paid so I can not verify but it shocked me). This is a detail that is the background that counts and there there was the matter.
