I drive on my trekking a Deore XT 9-speed crankset type M771 and bought this as a replacement for chainring wear. The difference from the first original chainring is the color (silver, instead of black) and quality (only Deore LX instead of Deore XT). But anyone who has tried once, a 9-speed XT chainring individually at 36 teeth, will find that the easy is not - rather impossible. Several bicycle dealer did not have any suitable chainring available with 36 teeth and online I have only XT chainrings for 10x BB or just found this one. (The situation is similar at 9-speed XT sprockets from - apparently dies Deore XT slow for 8- and 9-speed from.) Now, after exactly 8103 km and two chains worn this chainring is again at the end: shark tooth formation - the new (third) chain will hang down and can no longer be run with the old sheet.
Whether the service life of 8,000 km for the one chainring will be assessed as very good or poor, everyone has to decide for themselves in principle. Who drives 800 kilometers a year, the chain ring can at least keep for 10 years. A bicycle dealer said also, over 5,000 km mileage would be for a chainring quite well. However, I drive a lot more; in 2014, for example, more than 10,000 km / year and therefore need for all components of a long-lasting quality as possible in order to not be removing anything you need.
The fact is also that my first original XT chainring persevered time almost twice as long as this simple model. More than 3 stars ("not bad") I do not give this chainring therefore. For lack of alternatives I certainly have now bought this anyway for the second time again.
