The DS414 is fast, quiet and runs without problems! Had a first Buffalo LinkStation 4-Bay, which took about two full days to configure my 4 plates (in the time you can not work with it). I thought at first that each NAS must make / taking so long. Nevertheless, just installed the hard drives and after 20 minutes it is ready for use! A Dream! More worry I made over the DVB-T / S functionality. I had lying around several DVB-T and DVB-S adapter (Tevii S660) and wanted to operate on the Synology. This went so far with tvheadend on a Raspberry, but here I was again pleasantly surprised. Simply connected, installed video station, then installed and started tvheadend. After some experimenting with the USB2 / 3 connections, I found out that you can not port both devices to a USB to connect (via hub) (Something is also available on the product page of Synology). So I closed the DVB-S to the USB2.0 port and a hub with the DVB-T stick and a printer to a USB3.0 port. Tvheadend is indeed in the repos have an older version, but it works perfectly with all XBMC machine in the house. Also you can have it sent to the Messenger app on your mobile phone SMS when certain events occur - quite comfortable! I avail myself of this but push notifications for Growl, but there is even a separate app in the Community Repo! My DiskStation running now for about 2 months without a misfire, the update on DSM 5.0 was done with a click and a few other package updates. Have 4x3TB WD30EZRX (WD, Green) installed, each 2 in Raid. 1 The transfer rates, use only one Ethernet port (Gigabit): Upload: 80-90 MB / s Download: 90-120 MB / s I'm very satisfied with it! Especially top these results the LinkStation from Buffalo to wide, a very clear difference!
