Range deficient

Looking for a cheap and reliable motion I came across the STEINEL IS 130-2. For optical reasons I bought the black in the local "Bauhaus". There he was at 20% - an experience that I do again and again!

Installation is alleged not quite as simple as here several times. You'd need a certain dexterity, so you do not fall the "lens" when the screws from 2m height on the concrete slabs. Well - You can remove previously the lens, and you should do well. But to the installation manual does not say anything, and quite voluntarily of course comes just at the wrong moment. My has survived the fall - but my heart was already at a point where it does not belong. The wood screws are self-tapping and long without exaggeration - 2 cm less would have been enough to survive a hurricane.

The electrical connection is not a problem, if you - like me - decide to run the last few meters in Flex cable 3x1.0 or 3x0.75. Otherwise, hope you enjoy the tight installation space. If you want to connect the lights directly to the motion, so that is possible, because a socket for looping through the "earth" is available.

The protection class IP54 is a bit poor, my outdoor lights have IP65. So use it in a sheltered place your motion.

The maximum output load of 600W is sufficient for me, for all my outdoor lighting are now switched to energy-saving and LED lights.

The viewing angle is indicated by 130 ° and the infrared sensor is to respond to thermal radiation. When I installed it, we had temperatures around 10 ° - and he has also turned at 170 °. Today we have 3 ° Lousy - and even at 120 ° I had to organize flight tests, so he switched. I do not understand, because an infrared sensor but should work to better the colder it is - since he recorded thermal radiation.

That the reactivity of the "plan outreach" is not so good, already is in the instructions. But that it only switches at 4m, is very poor compared to the promised 12m. We have elsewhere still an ancient "Düwi", the switches in the same situation at 9m.

What else is there to say? Steinel offers 3 years warranty, the field of vision is very simple by limiting label supplied, the setting of "Twilight" and lighting time is easy. That's all very good!

Conclusion:
I have refrained due to many negative reviews of a cheap device and gripped a little deeper into their pockets. Because of the lack of reaction in the cold I must however deduct 2 stars.
