The world of 1992 as had imagined Dick in 1969 is singular, composed of telepathic and precognitive that seem to be the new guy that protection Company must nullify their anti-telepaths and their anti-Cog order to maintain balance psionic forces on Earth. The dead are not really dead, he swims in a semi-life where they can communicate with the outside, but it costs them some life and lead to real death, but their existence continues adjusted parallel. The consumer society seems to be brought to its climax, because almost everything is limited, even at home, and normal employees were replaced by machines3 Catapulted the midst of this strange world, Joe Chip, psionic field tester serving Runciter Associates, a protection agency discovers a young girl whose psi power seems beyond all he could see, but intuition told him beware ... What surprises from the outset, is the complexity and coherence of the universe, Philip K. Dick has thought of every detail and precise and clear writing allows us to not lose a crumb of history, unlike what we can see in The Master in the High Castle for example. This is one of the best anticipatory stories I have read, full of twists and without any dead time, it is a mixture of temporal regression, conspiracy and psionic powers, we must cling to be sure understand but what fun for neurons to follow such a great story. The only downside of the play comes from doing that is hard to perceive the feelings of the characters, Dick leaves us little information about it. Still, we are dealing with one of the best science fiction novel of the twentieth century thanks to its universe and its unique temporal approach.
