Reggae Revival

The hype surrounding Protoje was after every single newly released getting bigger and then culminated in the hit tune (and personal tribute to Ini Kamoze) "Kingston Be Wise". At the latest this release are eager was waiting for Protojes second studio album and the Riddim magazine has about a month before the work on the LP of the month of the album appear crowned - with a very flattering critique for Protoje (edition 01/13).

But on the album. What is Protoje delivers here as hoped and almost expected, an impressive statement of the young Reggae generation - not only by the many incredibly successful combinations on the LP. Protoje has evolved his style konsekvent and can remember the phone in any line that the words were well chosen wisely. Towards the end of his 8 Year Affair travel Protoje is increasingly spirituel in his lyrics, which definitely noticeable in the track 'Hail Ras Tafari' and is audible.
To me it is not possible at this album to name a stand-out song, as the complete works from start to finish is round and each track could be called, depending on your mood. This every song has its own vibe and thus its right to exist on this album. That's why I will not give another title here now that everyone should make his own discoveries.

In conclusion I can say that Protoje has delivered with 'The 8 Year Affair' is a great album. A must for every Reggae Head, which is also just a little to the modern Reggae Revival Movement Jamaican Artist appeal. This new generation is to pick up the best way of all Roots Reggae to a new level (due to the Tune of Protoje and Romain Virgo). In my mind, there could be a milestone here.
