Reggatta de Blanc (Audio CD)

Customer Review

After the debut "Outlandos D Amour" of British pop / punk rockers The Police had hit like a bomb, were for the second album now more money and studio time.
"Reggatta De Blanc" benefited in terms of more sophisticated production and songwriting.
With audiophile sound has indeed now not to do it, from the production engineering problematic debut but you could still settle audible.
Unlike the other albums of "policemen" were here guitarist Andy Summers and drummer Stuart Copeland particularly frequently in the songwriting beteiligt.Zwei pieces wrote the trio together, three are from Copeland alone and one he wrote with Sting Sting zusammen.Dennoch also denied RDB on again the lion's share of the composition work.
It is striking that here indeed a similar style was maintained compared to the debut, but some songs were interspersed with more reggae elements which dominate even there, hence the idiosyncratic spelling of the title.
Also RDB came with listeners and critics good, was almost a cult album, sold very well.
Despite some hangers ("It`s Alright For You", "On Any Other Day"), there is a disc for me of a series (with two interruptions halt) of earwigs and / or real clowns.
Alone "Bring On The Night" ... when you had ever such a "Reggae Rock" ?? got to hear?
As usual drives Copeland with his ingenious drumming music relentlessly forward; what a great drummer "!
The fact that at a moderate running time some hangers or trivialities on board could cause a to draw a 4-star rating into consideration.
Not me. "Message In A Bottle", "Bed`s Too Big Without You" ... the album is Klasse.5 star.

The record sounded good, also the first CD edition was surprisingly OK.Sämtliche CDs of A & M Records the "Master + series," I know, a positive surprise; unlike many, many other CD-first editions that time (80).
That the remasters were then often no better, is a totally different story ...
In 1995 there were in the US a remastered edition of the album by David Collins, I have unfortunately never heard.
In 2002, the well-respected mastering guru Bob Ludwig led then a new remastering by; for CD and also for high-resolution SACD.Eine surround mixing was not carried out.
Since then there has been a flood of Japanese pressings (Vinyl, CD, SACD), conditions which, new vinyl pressings used SHM substrate and and and given.
As my good old vinyl record from the 80s still sounds good (thanks to A & M, which are known to use high quality vinyl!) And I master can + live well even with the Ludwig-remastered SACD and even the first edition A & M, just leave `s case.
The supposedly existing Japanese SHC SACD should probably be the measure of all things in the digital domain.
Whether but then beats my record, is sometimes an open question.
