Deadpool is about to collapse ungracefully in the Savage Land aboard a tiny space capsule. With its extraordinary power of regeneration, it out alive, although completely charred. It appears to have before him a blond Tarzan to Walt Disney, with a big kitten at his side (this is actually a deformation due to the pool-o-vision). The reader learns that Deadpool was hired by AIM (Advanced Idea Mechanics) to get an indeterminate bacteriological weapon in the Savage Land, before the Hydra agents can not get hold of it. Once recovered, he finds his agent contact AIM: Dr. Betty Swanson.
During these 13 episodes, Deadpool will get their hands on Headpool (as shown in the cover), it will cross Ka-zar, fight against dinosaurs being trampled, devastate a space station, wade in up to your thighs Everglades marshes, ending up in shorts with small pink hearts, benefit from the help of Brother Voodoo, don the costume of John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever, spend a few days in the universe of Marvel Zombies (2149 Earth) , find love in the person of a crazy woman of her body, receiving a building on the head, a great bike ride, etc.
Incredible, Victor Gischler has found the right mix of ingredients Deadpool to tell a true story that is also funny, suspenseful, second degree, with a bit of gore when katanas contrast, a little titillation with poor Betty, and lots and lots of fun regressive.
Victor Gischler can speak to fans of Deadpool. The latter is indestructible thanks to its power of regeneration. He leads discussions between his personality and the other 2 voices that inhabit his head. There are some uses of the pool-o-vision, quite limited. It has an unusual mastery of weapons of all kinds, the katana with the heavy machine gun (through the toilet paper roll). He has a sense of humor against the grain and he rocks the girls (well at least). Finally he sees reality through a distorting prism that reveals disconcerting and sometimes satirical.
Victo Gischler can speak to fans of the Marvel universe. Beyond a few characters of the second and third orders, he reveals Antonio Rodriguez (Armadillo, but if you only know him). He knows by heart the continuity of the zombie universe. It depicts the rivalry between AIM and Hydra. Only his version of Ted Sallis (Man-Thing) seems a bit too far from the usual treatment for this character.
Victor Gischler can talk to action fans with lots of dinosaurs, zombies, chase, fights, shots of exchanges, katanas, raging hordes of barbarians, erupting volcanoes, etc.
Victor Gischler can speak to your second degree with a sense of humor that plays on several registers. Of references to obscure knowledge geeks successive balls incompetent group leader of AIM. Mockery and self-mockery reign supreme. Deadpool never takes itself seriously and takes on rake rake with very Gironde Betty.
Most of the illustrations are drawn and inked by Bong Dazo José Pimentel. Rob Liefeld draws only 11 pages, Das Pastoras draws 3 pages, Kyle Baker draws 24. So far Bong Dazo (what a name!) Had me frankly not impressed. Here it turns out perfect and thorough. He has a style a bit but not too round that puts all the exaggerations. The inking units are a little but not too much supported to give substance and impart density. The anatomy of the characters is sometimes questionable (musculature defies the laws of physiology) but not too distracting to read. The somewhat gory scenes found balance between horror and comic exaggeration. The head rest Deapool expressive although he carries his mask beginning to end. Betty Ross has generous curves and voluptuous as a luxury scream-queen, but without being silly or vase. Tyrannosaurs have impressive teeth and emit a real ferocity.
Each episode features a gorgeous cover of Arthr Suydam, the historical painter covers episodes of Marvel Zombies. Each cover is a parody of a movie poster as Silence of the Lambs or Teeth of the sea.
While in 2009 the growth of Deadpool series was accompanied by a dilution and a reduced quality, Victor Gischler offers us a dense screenplay, without downtime with great action scenes show a main character without concession and very near to reality, in perfect osmosis with illustrations. After this maxisérie Victor Gischler created the Deadpool body (the club of five), 5 times more Deadpool to 5 times more fatal delusions.
