How does that now manifests itself in practice?
The S110 was a camera that I've plugged due to their compact size to all events and excursions for me. The G7x is about 50% larger and heavier (198g to 304g = 106g heavier). This can be seen already. The pocket is strongly pulled down in the backpack 100g more play no role. Also on the dimensions of the G7x slightly larger. Nevertheless, it is still compact enough to always have it. While the S110, however, has also (sometimes exceptional) fit into my pocket, I would have the G7x because quite squeeze in. I find a pocket but not really suitable to store a digital camera there. Without question, the S110 is more manageable.
The image quality is better G7x without now on CA, noise etc. pp. respond, which it of course also very much depends on the photographer and not only on the camera. However G7x is in my eyes not really classical "clippers". Of course you can also relax exclusively use the automatic mode, but the camera can do so much more and when resorting to the programs Tv, Av and M, the results are also more visible.
A plus of the light intensity: With the S110 no photos without flash were possible in dim light, through to a slow shutter speed everything is blurred or excessively high ISO images were totally noisy and unsightly. The G7x you can take pictures at non-optimal light conditions and go with the higher ISO unlike the S110. The photos will then see (if you do not print out poster) is still good. Furthermore, faster shutter speeds can be selected, which is very good, especially in the photography of children or animals. With the S110, I had a lot of waste when taking pictures of my 5-year (eg motion blur). Thanks to the light intensity of G7x is the story. However, I ask then also on Tv and manually chose a fast shutter speed (from 200 and shorter). The ISO then go though quite high, but on the monitor or as a 10x15 photo that's all ok. Unfortunately, a child / sports program is missing again. I find that the G7x is suitable especially for those who have mastered the basics of photography and photograph not only in automatic mode or also for those who want to learn it like.
I also have a big EOS, but as with many it is after all the small compact that usually accompanies me in everyday life. And with it arise many photos that are shown in the family and among friends (mostly on the tablet), sent by email or printed out (10x15). An absolute profit is also the folding up display. On the one hand as recordings from other perspectives are possible without craning and it is also possible to photograph inconspicuous. The possibility of Selfies is also given.
Addendum to the battery: The battery of the S110 is in my opinion poorly underground (why is the camera but still good!). The G7x battery is better than the S110. Usually enough for me a full battery for a day, even though I always take with 1-2 replacement batteries. Since I am still S110 damaged. The camera is so good that I have the 50-60 for the replacement battery grudgingly paid. The idea is not to take the camera for the battery, I did not come. As I said, one can also do without spare battery.
For me, the transition from the S110 has definitely paid off!
