Of all the shakuhachi records I listened to, "Poem of Bamboo" is undoubtedly one of my favorites. First, because this is the drive of a virtuoso, and we feel throughout the record an art mastered the breath and the instrument that is never contradicted. Then, because the album also contains, in addition to classical pieces belonging to the 'directory' of the shakuhachi, a few compositions of Lienhard who walk between Japanese and European baroque classical forms, which are superb: "poem bamboo" or " Fancy "- to name but a few - are pure jewels! So they bring a breath of fresh air in a world appreciated (shakuhachi) where the recovery of the only great classical compositions is often appropriate can sometimes tiring. In short, a disk that succeeds in continuing and renewing the art of shakuhachi.
