Scope of supply:
Quick Start Guide, Warranty Card, CD with user manual (PDF), USB cable, cable for connection to the TV (Composite) and USB charging plug. A memory card is not there any more than a micro HDMI cable.
Commissioning:
The F80 is very easy to take in function. First, the battery needs to be charged, which takes to the manual 160 min at the supplied battery (BP105R). In reality, the true, the USB power supply provides 750 mA at a voltage of 5 V. The camcorder can also (thanks to USB cable) charged on PC. If the battery is full, the status LED on the recorder will change from orange to green. Unfortunately for charging the camcorder must remain open (unfolded display), since the connections are inside the unit. Since the F80 does not have a memory you have then the memory card insert (SD / SDHC / SDXC possible). I myself use a 16 GB SDHC ADATA Class 10, Class 6 is recommended according to the manual (with 16 GB Getting to display 263 min / 9999 Photos far, the battery lasts around 100 minutes). Then you can get started.
Service:
When you first turn it is necessary to set the date and time, which simply goes with the control buttons on the display. The language can be changed in the settings menu yet, thought at first that this item (Language) is missing, but you have to click with the control button in the right direction (menu does not go "infinite" through). So I adjusted German. The menu is designed to be very simple and clear. Since there is nothing to complain about. The Mode button on top of the unit allows playback of recordings. To create a photo is a dedicated button "Photo" available. Tele / Wide goes to the rocker top of the F80 or directly to the control key on the display. The record button there twice, in addition to the battery it can be achieved poorly when you hold with your right hand, the device in the loop. Then you would have to activate it with the left hand because it is easier to trigger the display. The display can be tilted to control the recording and turn. It is large and bright enough to know they sufficiently high resolution (QVGA, 320 × 240 pixels). For sharpness evaluation is Ok.
The recorder fits comfortably in your hand, it is nice and compact, but it could still be a little more difficult, especially if you strongly zooms wobbles quite nice because you "nothing" has in his hand. Since you should use a tripod, a thread for this exists. It also conceals the battery does not like, so you could also switch on the tripod the battery or memory card.
Photo feature:
The few pixels that make up the photo (1696x954 pixels), are not sufficient for a good quality. They are strong "area" and even the most basic cameras doing better pictures. Photos you can even do while recording, but as I said, these are not great, even if much light is present.
Video feature:
The camera takes videos in HD quality. No Full HD, you get 1280x720 pixels as H.264 (AVC, AAC Audio as). Alternatively, you can shoot in SD, with 720x576 pixels (either 16: 9 or 4: 3). The video quality depends strongly on the available light. Is it bright enough, the videos will be (with slow pans and little wobbles) relatively well. In "normal" lighting condition, the sound of the video is visible. Maybe I'm too spoiled, because I use a monitor with 2560x1440 pixels, even in the original size, the videos are just satisfactory. I have since frankly expected more. You can also set any of quality (compression) that for example the bit rate would be increased. Zooming (after 52fach optical) slowly, giving the autofocus time you can use the full zoom range. Going too fast in the telephoto range is not for the autofocus and the image is no longer sharp. In a pinch, you could focus manually, which in my experience is not but that brilliant.
Sound Quality:
The sound is acceptable for such a small camera. Unfortunately, you can not connect an external microphone.
Video Editing Software:
The F80 has its own software for video editing with it, unfortunately only for Windows. Under MacOS you can however use iMovie.
Conclusion:
The Samsung F80 camcorder is a tool for beginners or occasional filmmaker. Outstanding quality you do not get, for a blog or for a well-known video platform is sufficient contrast from. I forgive my estimation three good star. One should not look at other camcorder in this price segment, possibly.
