My demands on a netbook on the areas of office and Internet.
Even hobbyists and performers will appreciate this device.
For multimedia and games almost all netbooks are less suitable.
Hence the name netbook.
But there are already gamers netbooks in higher price ranges.
I had a hard with my purchase decision and in the run-up to several weeks
researched and compared the different devices.
What I noticed when comparing netbooks:
To devices differ from the hardware equipment in the price range up to 400 Euro
barely apart. In most netbooks in fact is an almost identiche hardware.
The Intel Atom N450 processor is installed in almost every netbook.
The graphics cards are different depending on the manufacturer, but in this price range all
hardly suitable for sophisticated multimedia. Nevertheless, there can be considered quality images or videos in DVD.
The main memory is always 1GB Ram. Only the hard disk capacity may vary.
When N145P a Samsung hard drive with 160GB is built.
Decisive for the purchase of N145P were with me the very cheap price and mainly
the optical equipment with the matte display and the matte casing, the handy keyboard and the touchpad.
The low price and the looks are a clear advantage in contrast to most other comparable models.
Many netbooks are in fact held in Hoochglanz optics, which, although noble, therefore, comes to me personally but do not like, because the surface is always smeared and the display in sunlight is hardly to be considered.
The netbook is equipped with the Windows 7 Starter version.
That may be annoying for many buyers, but there are currently no netbook in this price range
less than 500 euros with a home version.
The limitations of the Starter version has no effect on the support of the device.
This can not be changed, the background is annoying for some.
However, it should be a simple tool with which you can change the background.
The performance is nevertheless surprisingly well. I tested on the netbook Windows XP and almost all Linux systems and have to say that Windows 7 is currently the better system. In particular, the power management has currently Win7 best.
As already mentioned, netbooks are not suitable for multimedia and so it is understandable that one
best dispensed effects and Aero designs in the operating systems.
I have my system set up so far that it operates smoothly and still looks good.
On frills I renounce and come to a boot time of 30 seconds.
As with any netbook unnecessary software is installed on the netbook that can be in half an hour
However, work can uninstall.
The battery life can be set to 100% or 80%. The latter setting is the life
extend the battery.
100% battery lasts for Office applications with low screen brightness almost 10 hours, hours at 80% nearly 7.
At medium display brightness, Internet and audio reproduction of the battery lasts for 80% 6 hours.
The keyboard is very good for a netbook in this price range. Of course, the keys are smaller than
with a conventional PC keyboard and you have to get used, but really can be the very N145P
relaxed working on the keyboard.
The touchpad has no equal in this price range. It responds well, the edges are sentient Bahr and the
Touchpad supports gestures. The sensitivity and gesture control can be set in the Control Panel.
Also on accidental contact allows the sensitivity of the touchpad to adjust.
The netbook can boot from USB sticks. In Bios Various settings can be made.
The main memory can be upgraded to the N145P easily. I have the original Samsung 2GB Memory
purchased through Amazon and installed. The netbook runs thereby significantly faster.
The hard drive I have exchanged a 500GB Toshiba.
The support of the equipment, software, firmware, drivers will support the Internet of Samsung.
I recommend a backup of the boot partition and the recovery partition with eg Clonezilla.
Working with the unit makes a lot of fun and I'm glad to have after a long search found this device.
