Have thus the Toshiba 750GB 5.4k HD in the new and fastest MBP 13 "Dual Core i7 replaced (Late 2011).
Via SuperDuper root disk cloned on SSD, then booted from the SSD and installed.
Since at present the current MBP is only obstruct 3G Sata disks speed ahead through the shoring of 6G SSD very good!
Geekbench risen to nearly +7900 points.
Trim Support via scripts enabled (happens automatically when non-Apple SSDs NOT):
sudo cp /System/Library/Extensions/IOAHCIFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns/IOAHCIBlockStorage.kext/Contents/MacOS/IOAHCIBlockStorage /System/Library/Extensions/IOAHCIFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns/IOAHCIBlockStorage.kext/Contents/MacOS/IOAHCIBlockStorage.original
sudo perl -pi -e 's|(\x52\x6F\x74\x61\x74\x69\x6F\x6E\x61\x6C\x00).{9}(\x00\x51)|$1\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00$2|sg' /System/Library/Extensions/IOAHCIFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns/IOAHCIBlockStorage.kext/Contents/MacOS/IOAHCIBlockStorage
sudo kextcache system-prelinked kernel
sudo kextcache system caches
After final reboot Trim is now activated.
For 2 months the new Samsung 830 6G SSD is now running extremely stable and fast, no dropouts, no drops in velocity.
What convinced me personally: Samsung MLC chips, Samsung TRIPPLE Core Controller CPU, Samsung Firmware = all from one source.
- After checking the web no update needed.
-OWC Mercury wg. the price differences not necessary.
In MBP the DVD drive has been removed and instead now sits in an adapter a 1TB SATA 2 HDD for data.
QED: highly recommended. Price not compare high but compared to the OWC including the customs import formalities.
