Positives:
The S2980 features a large 3-inch display that takes up almost the entire rear portion.
It has an automatic, semi-automatic and manual mode, thus offering the opportunity to hineinzutasten piece by piece in the theme hobby photography.
The automatic has numerous setting options, incl. Sports and well ausbalanciertem indoor mode, and a likewise überdutchschnittliche facial recognition.
It features an electronic viewfinder with 200,000 pixels.
It contains a built-in optical image stabilizer.
The camera has a HD video mode (AVI and MJPEG) and a mono microphone.
White Balance with 6 selectable presets.
The Filempfindlichkeit is ISO 6400, however, the image size has to be reduced to 3 megapixels
The camera has macro function.
Negatives:
The flash needs to be hooked up manually.
The display comes with a relatively low resolution of 230,000 pixels.
The zoom is this camera out of the entry-level segment too weak (18x zoom with a focal length 28-504 mm) and there are some cheaper models that offer more.
The pictures can only be stored in jpeg and not in RAW format.
The case seems rather cheap despite (or because of?) The numerous controls. The loud zoom motor reinforced this impression.
The equipment corresponds to the usual: USB 2.0, Video and HDMI output, 4 AA batery be sucked mainly from built-in flash and 1 SD / SDHC card slot. The S2980 can accordingly also operate over standard battery Batery. It contains also a manual plus a CD with the usual image editing and management software as well as a digital copy instructions.
In use, the S2980 shows beginner-friendly. Operating like and is mainly intuitive. The automatic mode takes over as far as possible self-sufficient when required and allows the amateur photographer to concentrate fully on the moment of exposure - but corresponds to the quality of the snapshot at the end is not always the claims. High pointed the camera in my outdoor use clearer losses than in the indoor mode and the sport mode privately often used by me could only deliver a satisfactory result.
Finally, to me is a bit of a doubt who this camera is recommended. I already have a smaller and more affordable reviewed that provides at least equivalent quality and slightly more expensive, which provides better introduction to the topic hobby photography for me. The S2980 comes the part of the bridge segment that my opinion of those interested is skipped fastest and can only be conditionally recommended accordingly by me.
