Positive is definitely the accuracy. I have compared it with various other thermometers (thermometer, liquid thermometers) and never found a call deviation values. Specifying + - 1 degree should vote according to my experience.
The readability of the display is relatively poor (liquid crystal with backlight off). This disturbs but only if you want under poor conditions, such as in an oven, read. There is an additional lighting, but also does not help much and turns off again after 10 seconds. That's quite short and should be extended to my mind to 30 seconds.
The automatic device or Display off after 15 minutes. This is a strange time. For normal measurement situations this is unnecessary long. For use as a meat thermometer but much too short.
The temperature range from -40 to +200 degrees is indeed common, but covers my Meßbedarf upward not really from. I would like to also measure, hie high oil temperature during frying, or whether I can rely on the higher oven temperatures. That does not this thermometer. But I have also no other kitchen thermometer found that this can.
The sensor bar is, and has another reviewer complained, rather thick (about 3 mm diameter). This has advantages and disadvantages. The temperature display vibrates more slowly, which is a certain disadvantage because you have to expect about 5-15 seconds depending on the situation until the display is stable. On the other hand one can take thermometer also from the fridge or roast and read without the temperature changed greatly in those 1-2 seconds. So in all, I see the slow response rather than advantage.
The power button and the Celsius / Fahrenheit switch button located next to each other behind the display. This is impractical because you can not see the buttons in the operation and, if you want to make fast, easily confused especially. Had the buttons on the front, or further away from each other, there would not be this problem.
As a meat thermometer for ongoing temperature control of this thermometer is not really suitable, as I would in my experience (Repeated removing, inserting or turning on) rather an analog specialty meat thermometer, which also does not cost much to buy. Annoying's just that one accumulates many rarely used space-consuming equipment, what I wanted to avoid.
As a universal kitchen thermometer, it seems to me a good compromise, although in detail is much room for improvement. 4 stars because, although I have to suspend some, but so far did not see a better alternative.
