If in the past times rolled a burning piece of logs from our grate and again had to be "stacked", my husband has so far with a fireplace hook in combination with a small ash shovel (which belonged to our old fireplace tool) resorted and tried the piece of wood - quasi pinch as eating with rod and to bring in the desired position. This was sometimes a patient work (because the wood came off again) and now and then he has (because he had no hand free) while also burned fingers.
The crocodile forceps of Goldmann's all no problem with his left hand (plus fireplace glove) he keeps the glass pane, which is in front of our fireplace, tilted slightly to grab the rights (plus alligator forceps) the logs and onto the grate to lay.
A very useful acquisition, which can only recommend anyone with an open fire !!!
