Le Nozze di Figaro (Ga) (Audio CD)

Customer Review

The recording of "Figaro" under Neville Marriner is without doubt a very bright star in the sky great Mozart.

Marriner leads us skillfully through the fast in some places but little long-winded title, giving the monkeys always sugar when it expects the handset. This creates the impression of perfect interpretation.

Now the singing:

José van Dam, who proved to be a Figaro already under Karajan and Abbado, singing at a very high level. I basically bass (Furlanetto / Ramey) prefer in this role is one of van Dam for me one of the best interpreters of Figaro.

In the side is the wonderful Barbara Hendricks, which gives the perfect Susanna that certain "feminine".

Absolutely stunning Lucia Popp as Contessa. Which heat and what Piani she sings her great aria is really big art. Agnes Baltsa convinced as Cherubino, as well as Robert Lloyd as Bartolo. The jewel in the crown, however, is once again Ruggero Raimondi as Conte. In this Conte of Don Giovanni shines through. Which vocal width Raimondi the emotional outbursts, anger and ultimately the reliability of the count is, is remarkable and he makes all his baritone colleagues (Fischer-Dieskau / Allen / Keenlyside) in the shade.

All in all a flawless recording that should be in every collection Mozart.
