Spout and lid are cheaper plastic. Some cans were probably packed already defective. Almost all supplied cans were leaking between housing and glass insert. Loosen and re-tighten the bottom gave a remedy. Even the cans are (I had 6 pieces for the church ordered) fine and the coffee was from the time of filling up to drink about 2 hours. Hot.
