I've tested in recent years a lot of "Gaming Headset's" (the entire G-series of Logitech, wireless solutions from Turtle Beach and Creative, headphones from Beyerdynamic and AKG ...) and have to say: what Sennheiser delivers here is quite big cinema!
* Packaging and delivery *
Anyone who has ever looked at the packages of "Gaming Headset's" knows that these are mostly totally chic with window etc.. Obviously, the Sennheiser but not necessary, and so I was of the relatively small package really amazed.
The packaging consists of a cardboard sleeve, from which you can push the actual box at the side. Therein lies well protected in a plastic sheet, the travel case (presumably. Plastic but chic interior and exterior covered with fabric) in which the headset rests, that's it.
* Processing, quality and material *
About the design, the clearcoat appearance and the white color can naturally discuss prima - it is not mine anyway.
The processing is absolutely fine: the paintwork is flawless, the materials used are of high quality and it creaks and cracks nothing (when you open the headset from folded, then crack the earloop, because they lock Do not worry, you have nothing. ruined - at least, was my first thought;)
Otherwise, all mechanical parts work smoothly, the headset looks stable and generally high, but ... and that's actually one of the few and the biggest gripe: the whole thing is actually made of plastic! Of course, this material makes the headset easy and is presumably. now also no longer particularly fragile etc. etc. as metal ... anyway I would have aluminum desired, especially for the price.
* Comfort *
The comfort is quite simply sensational! By really big ears, and the associated elimination of the carrying capacity of the ears ansich, the headset is indeed primarily on the head on - by the light weight and the soft padding but the falls not to continue, on the contrary. So the ears really air and space, nothing suppressed and pinches and leatherette ear pads shield perfectly. Also, the contact pressure is crisp, but without pressing and holding the headset in place.
As mentioned above, I have really tried quite a lot of headset's / headphones and the comfort of the Sennheiser is well ahead of most.
And the choice of materials of Kunsleders I find perfect for the following reasons: they shield prima off because the leatherette continuously applied and almost sucks - what you may have to - (not, for example, as with netting), it collects dust (like at Velour) and it absorbs sweat (unfortunately inevitably arises here because it is a bit warmer already, as for example the case of open structures), on like normal leather. Besides, it can be cleaned and buy more as spare parts easily. Combined with the soft foam and again to be mentioned size of the interior space, includes this headset really completely and tightly seals the only with me and the sound is correspondingly powerful and dynamic.
* Handling *
The headset can be completely folded, which facilitates the stowage and transportation massively. This is also covered with fabric, 3m cable very flexible and sufficiently long. Otherwise - that sounds much now. stupid - but I expect that the micro at such a price properly and crystal clear works! - Works the mic, as it should. All interlocutors (Skype, TS and IP Phone) have trouble me, noise and understood without interruption and also the mute function if you pops up the mic is working fine. Only a small LED (such as in some models of Logitech) I miss that indicates the mute condition visually.
Another highlight of the G4ME's the volume control on the external ear. KA what has gone wrong, but it works well not only not in my headset particularly well ?! For me, the hub already regulates Although the volume, unfortunately, but only up to about 20%. That is very quiet or even completely out does not go here. Personally, I can only imagine the way that Sennheiser has placed emphasis on locating here explicitly. Ie one gambles a game at the desired volume and comes to a point where you need to hear the faint sound of footsteps. So quickly turned on the knob and already you can hear everything - but be careful: if just then a grenade strikes next to a good night;) Nevertheless, here the product advertising is at least misleading and my second point of criticism.
* The Sound *
Right here scores of Sennheiser by physical laws because: sound is created and always entfalltet by volume, ie space. Techniques such as Dolby Sorround etc. try to technically produce size and the in by the sound. In plain English, this means you change the sound so that it just sounds as if you are in the stadium ... it actually but just can not be shown.
By really closed principle and the volume of the ear interior of Sennheiser may already own but by recourse to more space, such as other, smaller earphones, or even over-Ears or in-ears. And that is noticeable!
The sound is really punchy and dynamic. Both the bass and the highs are very balanced, without being dominant in the relevant field and even the centers are noticeable available and clearly addressed. And exactly this balanced sound spectrum make the Sennheiser actually to Tausensassa: he makes both films, as well as games and even music a lot of fun - a good output source vorausgestezt (is clear: the headset can not do magic and onboard sound is also so even after Onboard, albeit much more dynamic).
* Conclusion *
Whether any of the dynamic sound of Sennheiser, the absolutely neutral sound of Beyerdynamic, the broad sound of AKG ... like, all of that is purely subjective and a matter of taste.
I for one feel comfort from Sennheiser as the best of all headsets tested so far, the sound and the voice quality is bombastic and who still pulls no limit on budget currently ~ 250.00 who gets here great cinema and with this Headset long have his true joy!
PS: 4 stars for the tribute to plastic and for the volume control, which is not 100% work (at least not as advertised!).
