Sharpness:
Great for the EOS-tiny. Of course, not to be compared with the 35s (1.4 Sigma) on a 5D but still beyond my expectations. Sharpness waste in the border exists, but negligible. The make some much more expensive glasses worse. Significant ++
CAs:
Likewise, barely noticeable so far. Something more evident in low light conditions. But nothing that Lightroom can not get with a few quick hand grips in the handle. Significant ++
Vignette:
Here I was disappointed the first time by the pipsqueak. At maximum aperture a significant vignette perceive both good and bad lighting conditions. Well, even that can be corrected subsequently and as bad as some "big" Sigma it is far, but I find it unacceptable. OK, you can stop down, but I want that? I like the creativity that makes me a bright fixed focal length. 2.0 on Crop are already not with the 2.0 KB comparable. Then I do not want to continue to deteriorate me. There is a slight -
AF performance:
Which is now under all! Well, the EOS M is despite all the declarations of the manufacturers anything but an AF-performance Camera. But the focus has become more a matter of luck with the Pancake compared to 18-55er STM kit lens. In difficult situations I usually switched for eternal "Pumperei" to the manual focus, which compared to the DSLR is noticeably more difficult and time-consuming but due to the lack of viewfinder and touchscreen menus. These are then possibly the missing second to which it has arrived. I had really hoped for the Pancake a performance increase of the already lame AF of the EOS-M compared to the kit lens. the opposite is the case. For this, a clear -
(If it does not become a different, please comment like. I would tend to be assessed on the lens from the Canon service to exclude that I caught a cucumber.)
All in all I would give it 3.5 stars. That reminds me, the image quality is by far the most important (and the sharpness is really great with open aperture), I round up to 4 instead of rounding.
Have also provided a few pictures. The recordings were all made in RAW and developed in Lightroom. Likewise, in all cases open aperture.
All-time good light out there :)
NOTE JULY 2013!
The review refers to the first firmware version. With version 2 I could not test it because I had previously returned because of the problems outlined.
