I must say that I am very impressed. Visually it now fits perfectly with my Nexus5 smartphone. Even outside the Nexus7 has become much leaner and thinner. Overall, it looks more noble than its predecessor. However, I fear that due to the relatively smooth surface, the risk has grown that it slips out of your hand. At least to me, the tablet is almost slipped through my fingers. Well, that one is already hinbekommen with correspondingly cautious handling.
The buttons are in the same place as in the 2012. They react a bit better than the old ones. Also they do not make such a shaky impression as its predecessor. The plug for the earphones that are not re-supplied is moved upwards. Fortunately, now is also a camera (unfortunately without flash) on board. The speakers I have not found first. They are now in landscape mode on the left and right placed. You simply fall through tiny holes made in the matte exterior. The sound has become considerably better than the 2012 model. The tablet is much lighter and can be traced to the "risk of slipping" act very well.
The installation runs smoothly androidüblich. If you have registered its predecessor device with the same account with Google, is (almost) everything back. There have only a few settings and data will be set up and everything is as before. The micro-SIM is inserted into a small drawer. For this you need a key, which is attached to the accompanying documents.
Performance-wise, the new compared to its predecessor really a quantum leap. Everything works much faster. The screen acts subektiv considerably brilliant - in my opinion a real highlight of the new Nexus7. For battery life I can not say anything Final. But my first impression convinced me but the fact that the New lasts longer than the old man who already shone by his very good runtime (see Addendum). The time now is also supports the 5GHz WLan. The application is very fast - so far in the relationship, the fastest of all my tablets.
I have another keyboard cover (ELTD High-grade Bluetooth Keyboard 2013 Google Nexus 7) bought to the was also used in its predecessor. It is a perfect addition because it combines several functions. It is when transporting a cover for the display, the operation of the tablet acts as a stand and (German) keyboard. For this, however, you need an app that also supports German Tatstaurlayout.
Overall I am very satisfied with the new Nexus7 and forgive it also earned 5 stars.
Addendum (18/02/2014): It just left me no rest. Since I have both tablets available, I have a test basis both batteries fully charged in parallel and then waited until both were empty. Then the same again with parallel operation. Bottom line: The battery of the 2012 has noticeably longer juice. If you think about it, that's understandable, since the 2013er is clearly superior to its predecessor in both the screen resolution, as well as in almost every other area. But this does not turn, I still am very happy with the 2013er.
