The real reason for buying this repeater were the audio functions:
Mir is no device so far come across, which allows both optical digital and analog output to include a stereo system via WLAN. So you can for example use his little netbook as a wireless jukebox in the apartment (have the boxes in the living room and kitchen). Even the built-in radio transmitter is a very useful feature - so you can listen to a music stream, for example in "Shower Radio". For me as a "hi-fi freak" of AVM Repeater is an absolutely ingenious solution, to which I have been waiting a very long time.
You just installed an AVM software that works as a virtual sound card on your computer. The AVM repeater sets the incoming audio signal of the virtual sound card in the end to the audio outputs to and even makes it possible to use both outputs at the same time (for me very important, because for me the kitchen can be driven only on Zone 2 on the AV receiver). The sound quality via the optical output is impeccable. The level of analog output signal is a little lower.
The AVM repeater learns more times with a mouse click a firmware update with new features. So you can now create through firmware update 68.04.83 multiple radio streams directly via the web interface of the repeater. Can be started and stopped the stream either through the (admittedly low level) at the repeater panel or directly via the interface. The power consumption is very low with a maximum of 4 watts. Zusätlich yet, you can activate a timer via web interface, turn off the display and can automatically reduce the wireless transmission power at lower frequenting.
In summary, I can say that I am excited about this little piece of technology. Many regard the price as too high. Those who use it as a pure repeater, may be found on the market and cheaper alternatives. I think, however, that this device an excellent price / performance ratio has a street price of under 80 euros - especially considering the exclusive audio capabilities of this repeater.

UPDATE STAND 01.07.2011
Unfortunately, the AVM repeater runs relatively fragile than audio bridge. As soon as you surf the Internet at the same time, there when the page loads annoying audio dropouts - sometimes it is enough for this already, that the antivirus software updated. If you want to avoid this, there is in principle a very good solution: the smartphone (and UPnP app) you can use the repeater as a UPnP renderer and use the smartphone as a remote control. Unfortunately, a snag. The Fritz-products are not DLNA Certified - only compatible with it. Therefore, it is also for example not possible to use the Pause and volume function of the apps. Occasionally also the repeater depends on if, for example skippt a song. AVM had written in this regard on several occasions. Unfortunately, this model undergoes probably still no more updates.
