Appearance:
The E 75 is a new device, to the point that has been (at the time of purchase) of user manual, which was not available at Trotec. The paper provided instructions indicated with a link for downloading the user manual (unfortunately not functional). Finally I got a pdf form, which does not look well cared for - some contradictions and copy / paste probable records similar devices.
All this ultimately did not matter too much because the device is extremely simple. A control of desired humidity dial (acting as switch) and three LEDs: on, defrosting tray full - that's all. The power cord is long enough (~ 1.5 m) allowing some freedom to position the device.
Air is drawn from behind and rejected upwards, therefore (contrary to what the manual says) it is not necessary to clear space on the sides - this turns the device into a space enough restricted. The air inlet filter is integrated into the plastic door (no need for replacement filters so, however must be cleaned regularly). The drain pan is large enough and the shape is well thought: it is easy to mount, remove, carry and empty.
Too bad we did not arresting a system recovery once the tray out: you have to put a cloth to absorb some drops coming out when you empty the bin. Too bad we do not have transparent part on the ferry, to know how much water has already recovered.
The quality of the chassis is quite good - conventional plastic "appliances" can be no Soviet strength, but sufficient. Certainly, the unit presentiment better in nature than the pictures. It is not too heavy, easy to move thanks to wheels. However whether to wear it is not the simplest: the handles on the sides, you better have long arms.
Operation:
The device does what it is supposed to do. Measured consumption at the outlet is 290 W +/- 5 W. The exhaust air is warmer than the air but it's hardly noticeable.
75 E is over-sized relative to the size of my room to be dehumidified. This is deliberate because I needed a device for a former apartment so poorly insulated for large temperature differences that can approach 10 ° C in winter and 30 degrees in summer. Trotec offers on its website a comparative diagram showing the efficiency of its devices according to the temperature and volume of air to be treated (75 E is not on the chart but the curve looks like 75 S).
Thus, in a 10 m ^ 2 bedroom (ceiling 2.5 m) or the coldest I had moisture problems (about 80%, condensation, mold) the 75 E managed to get down to 50% in a few hours. By heating the room at 20 ° C and are putting the content of a washing machine everything is dry in 8 hours (with still a drain pan). It also works well in the lowest temperature I managed several times to go down to 50-55% in the temperature 15-16 ° C. Which lowers the moisture more: dried at 16 ° C and then heated at 20 ° C.
In contrast to the struggling unit to drop below 50% (according to what I announced Trotec).
In a slightly bigger room (13 m ^ 2 + stair hopper 80 cm therefore approximately 15 m ^ 2) the device does not lose its effectiveness. Indeed, it seems that efficiency is more affected by temperature as the surface to dehumidify.
In temperatures down to below 16 ° C the unit must defrost the condenser (as announced in the instructions), but this does not seem to affect its ability. Anyway it does so automatically.
The humidistat seems to work but since there is no tracking difficult to say how moisture is the "normal" mode - the only mark on the dial. Obviously this depends on the accuracy of my instruments (hygrometer and thermometer) but it seems that "normal" is around 45-55%. I have not dug the subject because this aspect does not really interest me.
The biggest problem of this device is noise. He is one of quietest Trotec and actually, the noise level is not particularly high, probably due within 42 dBA announced. However it is the nature of the noise that is simply annoying vibration, friction, warbling. In short, the sound of a poorly designed fridge ... The problem is not just bad balance: I spent a few hours with bubble level to be sure.
We arrive to stifle the sounds by pressing the device which proves that the problem is partly due to its low mass that leaves vibrate. In fact it seems not very "stable" on its casters. Place it on the carpet helps a little.
Anyway, in a quiet room it is unthinkable to support its noise. By cons, as the sound is unpleasant but weak just close the door, or sometimes just to position it well to hear nothing.
All these vibrations also leave some doubt as to the reliability in time. On the other hand, we saw so many fridges vibrate years and years that the risk of failure because of that seems low.
So to conclude, this is an excellent device, very effective regardless of the temperature and very greedy in electricity. I find the price / quality ratio excellent especially if we toured the site of Trotec: dehumidifiers it seems that it is really their job - it is not a "no name" device.
If appropriate for the intended surface, there are only two directions against: noise and lack of control / accurate display.
