The power cord is too short as the XC80 for my taste; It is all the media devices in the same rack, the only thing that I need to renew.
The installation was very easy, however, is the first channel scan already a test of patience and took well over an hour; OK, for the money you can not expect good. But all channels are found easily. I look to the receiver only unencrypted channels (Unity Media), so I can not say anything for Conax card reader slot.
The picture settings had to be only slightly adapted under 480i (Scart-RGB) but attention with the focus adjustment with me; only two or three settings on normal lead to ugly Sägezahneffekten with vertical lines.
The design of the picture menu is vaguely reminiscent of Windows 8 and is certainly well suited to a TV with HDMI. When using tube devices via Scart me some font types are personal to small and delicate ... here the menu design of Opticum XC80 would have been better.
From the beginning I have an NTFS-formatted Standard 2,5er USB 2.0 hard drive via the USB port and Timeshift activated. It turned out my set that television of fast movements (eg soccer live broadcasts) and simultaneous television perform during a recording to small image stuttering ... not really strong, but clearly perceptible.
Without time shift this disturbing effect was not seen in live broadcasts, so I reformatted the hard disk on your PC: but NTFS rather than the normal 4096 bytes I have the size of the allocation unit at max. 64K set. Since this problem is done here with me.
File systems ext2 / 3/4 are not recognized by the device.
The recording feature is very simple and plain. Programming via EPG possible ... but the start time and the length is 1: 1 basis, ie one has to correct individually manually to any desired leader and trailer every time. Continuous shooting using search criteria in titles does not exist, but you can input max. be repeated for the next 7 days at the same time. Let's see if this firmware side is improved somewhat over time.
Overall, the simple device does exactly what was promised and what it is supposed to and the short power cord, there is nothing that really bothers me.
Full marks!
PS: For use with Conax encryption, further processing of the TS and DVR files to disk on the PC and transferring to a HDMI TV has this review no information.
PS2: Have now the confirmation from the service manager of the Opticum Service that the images can be viewed on the USB flash drive only with the receiver itself. The tool mediainfo seems to confirm this, because the TS files are detected as Type MPEG-TS, which are however encrypted. This is a shame and would have me possibly even prevented from buying. A possible transfer of images to your PC was so not even mentioned in the description, so it stays at 5 stars.
