Because here an original Canon product exists, one can start from a high quality, which is reflected on the one hand in the antireflective flocking on the inside as well as the fit of the lens. Cheaper imitations have sometimes neither this flock, nor the accuracy, which then can lead to stuttering and at worst for wear of the thread on the lens.
Of course, you then paid a higher price, but in my opinion you should not want to compulsively save some euros at such a high quality lens and probably even higher-quality body with the lens hood, because the positive effects of this accessory fall not quite as ambitious photographer on.
Of course, is also the aspect of the additional lens cover, as already have posted before me other reviewers mentioning. Here, however, the original Canon product is of course no better than cheaper compatible products.
Conclusion:
Even for the higher price as the original Canon product can be awarded 5 stars. The quality is absolutely and you can also deal with the lens hood on the principle "to live in the system".
