Child of Eden (Video Game)

Customer Review

Child of Eden is a brave attempt to transport the synesthesia shooter "Rez" into the HD era. Rez was an extraordinary game on the Sega Dreamcast, was that attractive because of the combination of fast Shoote'm'Up gameplay with techno-heavy trance music. Here, colors and shapes blended beautifully on the screen with the almost meditative sound of the resounded from the speakers. This principle relies on Child of Eden, but just in HD optics and with the support of the motion control Kinect, but which is not a prerequisite for playing.

Child of Eden can namely be played basically in two ways: with the classic controller or with Kinect.Für both types of control there is a separate game mode. With the controller, the game controls very precisely. Using the right analog sticks can be several "enemies" Target at the same time and then shoot by pressing the A key. Can be by RT button and fend off certain enemies enemy projectiles. Pressing the X button lets also going on an all-destroying bomb sweeps empty the whole screen in dicey situations with once.

Even with Kinect can control the game very well, but the crosshairs in the Kinect mode little bigger and the precision is not so accurate as to the pad. Nevertheless, this mode makes a lot of fun because it just brings a completely different feel with them and also calls for more tactics. Unlike the controller controlled mode of the standard and special shot can be combined with Kinect namely not. That means you have to specifically change the arms in order to use the other variant can shot. The motion detection is done amazingly well, only quick exchange of glances in from just outside the field of view approaching projectiles are sometimes problematic.

But what Child of Eden makes them so special is not so much the comparatively innovative control with Kinect, but the outstanding visual staging that conjures up an inimitable rush of colors and shapes on the screen. When combined with the meditative music acts the game despite the very fast gameplay very relaxing and harmonious on the player. ZT are thousands of fine geometric shapes of all color spectrums simultaneously to organic on the screen, the animated is delightful to the eye of the player seeming creatures and structures convert. The result is an incredibly liquid, constantly kept in motion Shoot'm'Up pleasure that can not be compared on the market with other games. The Art of Design Child of Eden is simply unique.

Large weak point of the game is the very low level. The pure play time is approximately 3-4 hours. That sounds damn little, but you have to on the one hand the level several times playing to ever advance to come and secondly, it is not about the pure play through, but above all about the hunt for the high score. Also in the level such lot going on on the screen that the incentive is given over to new playthrough. Also, there are a number of unlockable stuff. It is questionable to what extent the developer supply later more levels as DLC and how expensive are these DLCs.

Child of Eden is a bit and bytes that have become to Sinnesrausch. It is visually so outstanding that it makes up for the glaring weakness of the low season favorite. The fusion of colors, shapes and music is an experience that except perhaps the old original Rez has no further play in the market. Highly recommended title.
