I have often been disappointed by the compact digital cameras especially for indoor shots, too often stuffed with beans. But with this little Sony, I finally found a device capable of taking pictures in the dark without the grain that makes them unusable pictures. Level design, this camera is pretty, it seems solid and rather well thought out. The modes are set via the knob (like a DSLR), the zoom is on the trigger button and multiple buttons are available for menus or options on the side of the screen. The optics are good, the angle is correct even if there are larger angles in the competition. The AVCHD video mode is good. Panning is super simple, just leave the button pressed and turn on itself and voila! The result is perfect. The mode face detection and smile works well even if it's a little gadget function. A burst mode is present, handy for THE photo with the right expression on the faces of your subjects. GPS allows the location of your photos (outdoors), once on the PC / Mac, the photo will be displayed on a map in iPhoto or Picasa for example. This is for me the big plus of this unit. It also has an HDMI output, convenient to look at the pictures with family on a big screen.
So there is nothing to throw in this compact camera, for once, I'm not disappointed (although the quality of an SLR is better especially from an optical point of view). This Sony will also make a nice little extra camcorder.
