For laptop itself can only say it acts processed nobly. No cheap plastic housing. The surfaces are pleasant to touch and you leave there no fingerprints! Odors I am not true to the unit. However, you will unpack odors literally crushed by the packaging material.
There is enough space between the keys on the keyboard. You do not get caught even during fast typing several keys at once like a netbook. The keys respond well and quickly. However, I find the micro very poorly placed directly next to the left Shift key. I do not know how loud my Skype partner will hear the phone my typing.
The touchpad is very good. 10 * 6 cm in about offer enough space to work with precision. The light tapping to click works very well. Contract the fingers or pull apart like you're used it from your phone to zoom in and zoom out to things works very well in many programs.
Screen
No FullHD resolution but who needs that to work already? At full brightness you get a very nice and clear result. Even with lower brightness (z. B. if you have to work on battery) has still a good result and copes well with it.
Power
Here you have to make it clear compromising mobility. Anyone who wants to play games with the current consuming device is completely wrong here. Especially the cheap models in the series are a bit weaker than the models above 1000 E. Old games and mini-games should be playable without problems. Primary the computer is simply meant for Word, Excel, PowerPoint, e-mail and Internet. For these applications, the performance is easily sufficient and enables a streamlined workflow. To run in VMWare Win 98 simultaneously with the output ranging from the way without any problems. Other systems can be run along the same time I have not tried yet.
Heat / volume
For simple applications, you can hear the device only slightly. If the computer is running on more power you can hear a bit louder one fan (One notices this especially at the beginning where everything is updated for the first time possible). But the noise is still acceptable and not as noisy as other notebooks in normal operation. For heat development can only say well done! Even leaving your computer running at 100% CPU longer it is not too warm. The difference is indeed felt but perfectly acceptable.
Battery life
I would say the main drawback of this computer. I'll go with roughly half brightness and normal use of WiFi + USB stick to about 5 hours of runtime. Excessive CPU utilization shortens the whole even more. More expensive models provide as more. Now everyone has to decide for itself what it needs. Longer term but higher costs or he wants to save and occasionally have access to a power outlet? Several batteries to carry around as in other notebooks is no solution since the battery is built into the device.
Power Supply
The smaller the electrical appliance, the larger the power supply had to be yes to experience some time. Fortunately not at this computer. Easy and 3.5 * 8.5 cm for the power supply to be I find it very handy. With the cable, the power supply then comes loose on 2.5 m. Despite its small size, it is not too hot even after some prolonged use.
Connections
3 * USB 1er of USB 3.0. Top. Enough connection options for several external devices at once. A card slot and an HDMI output to connect to a projector / TV. A monitor port is also available where you can still connect a VGA cable with a non-supplied adapter. The network cable also fits even easier to get when you open up the connection.
Hard drive
Something was saved. Installed with me a Hitachi HTS545050A7E380 with 5400 RPM. An SSD would all still accelerate but also drive up the price. And for the normal claims ranges the current plate, too. I strongly suspect you can also retrofit a SSD but I did not quite understand how to open the door for the HDD and the RAM on the back of the PC. Fals someone has understood the system it would be nice to reply here with a brief explanation.
Missing CD drive
On this point I have been thinking well before purchasing. Do you really need even an optical drive? The Number of CDs / DVDs that I had played in 5 years on a laptop can be counted on 2 hands. Virtually everything can be transferred via USB stick and the Internet. The drive I did not really need.
Software
As with any computer purchased finished useless software is preinstalled in crowds again. Very much of it can be removed immediately without hesitation.
Win8
In a nutshell: getting used to. But that was the switch from other Windows versions as well. I'm with the transition from Win 3.1, Win 95, Win 98, Win ME, Win XP, Win Vista and Win 7 came along well after some time and I will probably get used to the new features of Win 8. So far, I have not yet opens up the meaning of the Metro interface on a standard PC but I let myself be happy surprise there.
Conclusion
Anyone not meeting high performance requirements but is looking for a practical, inexpensive and lightweight device is in good hands here. For more claim you should invest a little more.
