I've been through still camera, RC Heli, diverse Tichgeräte etc a very high battery demand. It's worth switching to battery. I've already wasted a few batteries with a no-name battery charger. Expensive, hochwerige batteries are over after about 50 cycles. That's why I occupied myself times deeply into the subject battery. So before you buy a charger now, I'll give you a few hints for use batteries ensure many years of fun with it. For pure review they read a section below.
First of you considering the application base. Batteries are only worthwhile for devices that are often used, for example, photo camera if you, if you use a lot of photography, or this flashlight in every basement corridor. Are inappropriate batteries in devices that they hardly use, eg flashlight for emergency (power failure, ...) is intended. There you buy batteries. Batteries in such devices discharged by itself after some time.
Basically with cylindrical cells (AAA, AA, C, D), there are Ni-Cd and Ni-Mh batteries. The Ni-Cadmium batteries are regularly no longer sold. The Ni-metal have a higher energy density and are environmentally friendly.
The following rules must be observed when batteries:
Do not store battery pack long unused. If they are not used even for a while, about half charge up completely, store in a cool, and make 1 times per month * empty and recharge.
Ni-Cd may possess a memory effect, some more, some less, some even almost not more. Ni-Cd batteries should therefore make empty ever before loading *
Ni-MH batteries have no memory effect, no more than a battery inertia effect. Are so similar, but it can unload a few charging cycles and formatted
Rechargeable batteries never overloaded (very hot) -> can be destroyed
* - Making> Batteries empty means to the discharge voltage about 0.9-1.0 V
Rechargeable batteries never share Unload> once by 10% over-discharging reduces the number of cycles from 1000 to ca 100. The battery only takes a moment broken by! Cameras turn off. Do not -Turn consecutively too many batteries. Take the case of a serial connection ONLY equally good batteries. Has a battery less capacity, it will be empty first, the voltage will continue to fall and he is deep discharging. This he loses a battery to capacity. In the next discharge he is then more quickly empty and will be further deep discharge. From more than 6 batteries in series you most from even when shutdown and the individual cells to charge state.

Now we come to the actual time machine :)
Many cheap devices work with the U-Delta method. The batteries are charged, the voltage is monitored. If the batteries are full, they heat up and the voltage drops a little. This tells the charger, the battery is full. However, they are overloaded during this phase. Ni-Cd batteries can thus easily handle, Ni-MH batteries are very empfinlich against overcharging. So do not use cheap cell phones and no-name products with -Delta U method.
The Ansmann Energy monitors voltage, current and temperature. The final charge voltage and current can be said exactly when the battery is full.
You can use 1 or 2 ampere load charging current. Charge Ni-Cd batteries with 1A and Ni-Mh batteries with 2A when these are fast charging. Quick Charge Batteries are a little warm, but not hot. Are they hot, they've been vorbeschädigt.

You can use the 4 programs: charging, discharging, real battery capacity in a test run to determine, Cyclic loading / unloading up to 10 times.
-If You still have old Ni-Cd batteries have, they unloaded them in the machine before further charging.
-If You use Ni-Mh batteries, recharge them just on without discharged.
-Do You feel that leave Ni-MH batteries to capacity after, this is probably the battery inertia effect. Let then your Ni-MH batteries in the charger 3-5 cycles passing
-In 2-3 batteries in series you can rely on the automatic shutdown of the equipment;
-If You want to turn 4-6 batteries in series, they can make a battery test run of all batteries. It is then automatically fully charged, discharged and recharged. Then the actually discharged capacity will be displayed. Then turn only batteries with the same capacity in series.
-If You want to switch more than 6 batteries in series, can be found from time to time the batteries and test them individually with the battery tester to the device and see if maybe a battery is empty faster than the others.
You can 8 x AAA or AA or 4 x C or D load simultaneously.
Each bay is individually monitored.
The buttons to go a little harder, you would have to press a little rough :)
One can any Li-ion batteries charge (Mobile Phone Battery, film camera battery, ...) With adjustable top. Lion batteries must be charged at a constant voltage and decreasing current. Again, all 4 programs available, but Lion batteries have no memory effect and a limited available number of cycles, so load them easily on ONLY.
The adapter can be removed. Here you have to press the button very very firm, that bothers me a bit of the device. Here I would have more quality expected.
Under the taken-out adapters 2 x 9V slots. The 9V block can use all 4 programs.
When inserting batteries be checked for capacity by measuring the voltage (0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%)
It runs when you load the round cells a fan. I think he's not too loud, do not place the charger but in your bedroom next to the bed, then it might be nervous but. Sometimes I have the feeling that the fan has a bearing damage and therefore makes more noise. At Christmas, my father got the same charger, with him, it is but just. So it seems to be normal. Here I had a quieter fan expected for the price and the quality.
The charger includes a large and estimable battery and battery tester. You can test all round cells than batteries. Even button cells 9V Blocks and 6V packs, 3V batteries and test 12V lithium batteries.
Conclusion: Totaly I can highly recommend the device, if they often and MANY BATTERIES in use. The device has a few quirks, but I felt primarily by a charger that is good for the battery. That is why the unexpected in the price / quality class quirks can be coped with and mitigate, in my view not the full star number.
Remember: To long to have fun on the battery, includes not only the right battery unit and the proper handling of batteries. Are batteries eg repeatedly tiefentaden and reversed, does not help even the most expensive charger.
