Nicolas Jounin, professor at Paris 8, on the fact that the poor are very studied and that "sociology is built around their auscultation." He decided to embark its Seine-Saint-Denis in the Paris students Golden triangle formed by the Champs Elysees, Avenue Montaigne and Avenue Georges V.
Students discover much about the inhabitants of these areas, their maeurs (sometimes as undemocratic in these clubs where women are not allowed to vote), facilities (we learn that there is little public toilets to avoid certain undesirable populations, fewer bakeries and grocery stores because the buildings are bought to install luxury shops) as themselves (their representation of this universe, sometimes they want and how they are perceived: the fact that they are entering a chic place for coffee is often seen as illegitimate).
This beautiful book title reads (very easily) as an introductory book on the sociological survey. Can be recommended to the general public and students in socio.
