I have quite a while, looking for a hard drive enclosure for my Synology DS213. An important criterion was USB 3.0, so that a reasonable data transfer rate is guaranteed. But I was also important a RAID feature that I not use at the moment but will probably need some time. On the web is repeatedly written that there are not many external hard drive enclosure, which harmonize with the Synology servers (standby). So for me it was a leap of faith when I have decided on this case. So now to my experiences for IB RD3620SU3. The first thing I have to say that this case fits very well from its size to the DS213 because the height of both units is approximately the same. The processing is in this price range really good and you can connect to the advantage of two other hard drives with just one USB cable to the DiskStation. The housing has a rear fan, which has an electronic fan control. The air is sucked in at the front of the housing from below and blown backwards by both disks are in the airstream. The fan is taken in normal operating acoustically hardly noticed. So now to the compatibility with my DS213. I run the IB-RD3620SU3 in JBOD Single mode, so both hard drives running independently. I have a Western Digital 4TB Red as a backup drive and an old Western Digital 2TB installed in the chassis. Both drives were immediately provided to the format of the DS213. The standby mode of the DS213 works with the IB-RD3620SU3 HDD enclosure perfectly. Does the Synology to standby, and the IB-RD3620SU3 turns off with. After waking up the Synology the IB RD3620SU3 waits to wake until actually a disk access. Just as it had intended. From my perspective, this is a super hard drive enclosure for the price. I highly recommend it.
