Final Fantasy Type-0 HD - The Official Strategy Guide (accessory)

Customer Review

I write rather rare reviews, but in this article I could not simply leave as the (so far) only two other reviews. Because the book is so bad now also again not. I have already since 2 April (not Amazon), it was already so extensively studying while playing.

But from the beginning:
The book is clearly structured at first glance. One finds after meaningful table of contents at the beginning of several pages general disappointment, especially for combat system, the game world, etc. This also includes each 4 pages per character, where he or she will be presented in more detail, together with recommended to Transmitter learning skills, battle strategies and many more.
Then comes the actual walkthrough where each game section describes in more detail with the respective missions, along with maps of the relevant areas, quests during leisure time, field operations, tasks, events etc.

What bothers me personally something (but that is also more likely to implement in the game) that you have to watch during the missions rather on which map you are, especially on the missions, because, unfortunately, on the mini map on the top right on the Fernsehbilschirm no ambient contours can be seen. This makes the orientation in Game total bit difficult, but as I said, my criticism is also on Game Design. If only because of the time pressure in missions and as opening the menu does not pause the game, unfortunately, I am constantly going to press the PS button to have time to be able to check in game guide map and descriptions, z. B. on items, special orders, opponents etc.
Of course you could choose from the menu and pause, but that requires a few seconds more time if necessary, could mean the death of the character controlled opponents in attendance.
Especially in the later missions run the cards in the book over several pages. Since it only at the beginning of the mission section in the book has an overview of which Ariale there is anything (the box view, how they also see when you open the menu, but as a pro rata basis), I have now and scroll back to again the Overview to have, where I can go a whole. There are also optional complex areas, is not referenced by the yellow arrow in the game, because the shows so only as to where you have to go necessarily. Therefore, I would have found it good if the entire box view would have been at least small on each respective double page plan, so that leaves you could have saved.
Bottom line, yet each mission section is present with a detailed map illustration in the book showing the locations of the items, save points, regeneration etc. fields. It's just - as I said - minunter difficult to match them on television, precisely because the contours on the mini map on the screen are missing. (Sometimes I really wonder what the minimap is any good. Probably just to show whether approaching opponents.)

What is missing something in game guide, brief descriptions opponents are right in the respective chapter. So one must unfortunately or scroll all the way back where the bestiary (opponents database) is the exact details for each opponent. One finds at least in text to specify which enemy emerge each, so one is not entirely unaware in advance and can future reference.

At the beginning of the walkthrough (I think to Chapter 2) describes very well what you can do right in the breaks, or rather should, therefore sidequests, field operations, tasks, events etc. We learn who you should speak primarily etc.
Unfortunately, that leaves from Chapter 3 for something. Although you will find there also an overview of what is all of the above are available and can be done in theory, but unfortunately will not be described in such detail what is worthwhile / necessary in order to trigger subsequent optional events / tasks, etc.. One should since then but times have a closer look in the later book section sidequests in advance in order to be clear about what is still so everything comes and what to watch.
As an example: I was in Chapter 3, 2nd break, first roughly looked at the overview of available tasks etc. and a few of them done. Later I flipped again back to the side quests and read by me which LCIE stones I now could bring already. One was missing me, so I went into the respective city and wanted to trigger the event, which was necessary to obtain the LCIE-stone, but it was not working. After re-reading I came even to the conclusion (in the book, there was, unfortunately, no evidence) that this particular event is no longer available apparently, once you've fulfilled the task of the mayor of this place. Well, unfortunately I had already done, so the stone is gone, that is, I can not get it, at least not in this game run. It would be great if there is a Warning would have been verpassbar -Note!.

In the book, however, is often pointed out that the game is designed to play through it several times. The book also refers commendably at the appropriate places on the tasks / field operations should be done only in the 2nd playthrough, which level is recommended for the missions and what criteria must be met for the S-Rank.

I unfortunately noticed that in some possible tasks / events etc. indicate missing that you could have done something specific in advance for needs or simply the Note comes too late. I have unfortunately noticed in some events where certain people only show up if you have already spoken in a previous break with them. If you look first at the section of the side quests, you can read there, but once you read only the walkthrough, which is partly under. Especially when some events indicate this is right, that the need for subsequent events, the other is missing, however, again. Unfortunately, this is a bit annoying, but at least you learn as you have to read the game guide and now I get along well with them. The Overlooked I'll do then just the second walkthrough, so far there is no problem.

Of course there are detailed sections on the optional dungeons, Esper, 2nd playthrough, items, weapons, Chocobozüchtungen, Animae, L-Cie-stones, summary of Quests / events of the respective chapters, etc. In this sense nothing is missing, it is only here and there maybe a bit inconvenient constructed / arranged, especially as it is quite well instructed in the beginning (specifically, how to proceed in the breaks, where you indeed have to really keep house well in the limited time because simply do not meet all the first playthrough leaves), but what then decreases sharply from the 3rd chapter. You have to read even in the side quests etc. detailed then simple. Here, perhaps, an indication in the game guide would have been fine, which states that one off as existing special features on page so and so should read in order not to overlook or miss. Of course, the players can be relatively damn who attach no importance to a complete gaming experience possible.

What I unfortunately missing something about Enima: Although it is explained exactly when what needs to be done, how many gifts have to be handed over etc.
But unfortunately I do not find very precise descriptions about which gifts they accept exactly. While it is, would you find items in the section, but there I saw only what there is everything for gifts, but not know what they want when. But luckily you can try the yes without the costs valuable time.

Probably a few translations absence of the final game were made, because unfortunately it shows in several places, that some concepts in game guide do not match the text in the game. Mostly, these are not very serious and with a little logical thinking can also piece together what is meant, but if you do not know the whole, one can first be puzzled why you can not find certain items or hot Chocoborassen different.
Examples: In the book, there is talk of tree sap, which you should give to someone, but in Game it is simply called resin. Then there is a book out loud Windgeschwindchocobo I wanted to breed, until I realized that after all is different in the game and I have him already. Any bikini was from the Sexy Swimsuit (White the exact name no more), etc.
But as I said, we already recognize actually what is meant, When you think about it. Certainly it's annoying, but not impossible bewältbar. There would certainly be more difficult if there were no German strategy guide and you would have to have recourse to the English language.
What also disturbs something: One should be careful when you put his finger on the scripture in the book. I once put the finger on a spot in a table so as not to slip on the line, while I looked at the TV, to compare the names of chocobos. I pulled the finger line by line down further and suddenly it occurred to me that the writing was smudged something where I had moved my finger along. I emphasize that my fingers were not sweaty wet, or whatever. So do not put it directly on the font possible fingers. It does not stain from anywhere, but sporadically the finger could then be easy black. ^^
Note: The release of the book was indeed postponed twice. Perhaps new copies were printed so where these errors no longer appear. If this is the case, I would be grateful for an indication and could be removed from my review.

Otherwise, I think the quality ok, there is also no Collectors Edition. At least I could with me no loose pages or other error notice.

Schön also a Trophy index with brief references would have been to achieve, which is unfortunately missing.

Summary Pro / Cons:

Pro:
+ Beautiful hardcover
+ Table of Contents and General Tips
+ Detailed character descriptions with skills, combat strategies etc.
+ Structured walkthrough together with 2nd playthrough, which explained in detail all the missions and shows with detailed maps, S-rank requirements
+ Overview of possible quests, tasks, events, field operations etc. to every break unit between missions
+ Own section with details on weapons, objects, side quests, events, field operations, Chocobozüchtung, LCIE stones Animae, Esper, opponents, etc.
+ Occasional notes, which tasks should be done only in the 2nd playthrough; recommended levels Information

Contraindications:
- Some translation differences as compared to the terms in the Game
- Occasionally missing evidence verpassbare things
- Arrangement of information is sometimes a bit awkward / inconvenient (you have quite a lot of free time during the backwards and forwards to find detailed information) and detailed information can be found only opponents in the corresponding book section; here were specific page references have been helpful
- Missing Trophy Index
- Scripture can in some places a little blur

Conclusion:
For me the purchase of the book was definitely worthwhile, because I had no guarantees wrong overlooked or simply not know what when where is possible more.
Of course it is a matter of opinion whether you want to pay in the present deficiencies still the price of just 25.
For me personally, the weaknesses are now not so bad that I would consider the book to be useless, because I've been using it extensively and prefer to often consult. But I can understand well, if someone disagrees, because you have to know it first "affairs" to. ^^
