I'm really in the soul hurt, but Vengeance Falls is the first time an album of Trivium which I expected more as it offers me. Surely here is the individual taste is an important factor, because it is bad in any case. Nevertheless, I miss on this album what Trivium has, at least since the epochal Shogun, identified for me. Every single track works in themselves. The riffs are strong, the solos and the choruses are catchy. What bothers me then? I lack the spark of genius, what distinguishes a good song by a particular. You can lose really, be surprised by turns in any of the songs. In addition, however, this impression is totally subjective, I feel the structure of the songs and sang with the new union experiments of Matt Heafy heavily reminiscent of the early Bullet for my Valentine. In making tracks makes Matt a kind of chant, which I think is very unfortunate. Really emotion and expression come there not with me. He has such a large fund available, what he can do with his voice. The chanting is my impression not his forte. Sure, one gefällts, the other not, I do not.
Conclusion: solid album, in which I do not have the last spark, he simply does not want to skip. Nevertheless, I will not advise against buying. But currently my impression is that I will dig it as Shogun even years later and can be glad about each track. Fortunately, Trivium known experimentally deal with their music, and who knows what awaits us on the next album !?
EDIT: I just mitlerweile but then in some songs of love with the album! So Stern number four there finally has, and also happy.
