Yes, how do you put it? Bin something ambivalent. On one hand, some songs are really worth listening to because, on the other hand it is still too "thin" over. "Fragile Tension" Wrong "or the darkly dirty" Corrupt ", are for me the real highlights. What is missing here is that certain "something". The sounds listen to way too easy. Analog synths paired with fiepigen tones and shallow guitar riffs a la Rock / Blues. It really is not bad. But the overall context of this album will not be worn properly. Sounds almost anything to equal. Some songs sound kind of rapid "cope timbered". Vocally or textually, everything comes across 1a. No Question. But Ben Hillier is misplaced. He experiments around too much, and thus the songs / sounds go on much potential lost. Conclusion: SOTU is an album that I listen to the least, because I am, after a few years can not really make friends with it. Too bad, unfortunately. Nevertheless, I see the next album towards something positive. Greeting
