In the product description is that all popular formats are supported. This is just plain wrong.
DTS and DTS HD are very popular formats for Blu Rays and make me more than 90% of the films.
I use the Playbar along with two backing 1 and a sub system as 5.1.
What could we do with the sound in Blu Ray is acceptable.
Stereo as him most TVs is spend on the digital output for me as Movies- and music lover really not an option.
I would like to communicate the following solution:
There are Blu Ray Players, such as the Samsung BD-F6500, which spend the DTS and DTS-HD signal in the recoded bitstream as Dolby Digital 5.1.
; Qid = 1390046468 & sr = 8-1 & keywords = bd-f6500
This is a slight delay in picture and sound.
The sound quality is very good.
The lip sync can by now be adjusted by the software. So that this is no more disadvantage.
We also have with a friend whose TV outputs only Stero, yet tried another variation that definitely works.
Was used the same Blu Ray Player. Additionally an HDMI Toslink Switch:; qid = 1390045757 & sr = 8-3 & keywords = HDMI + Toslink + switch
All HDMI devices (Xbox 360, Digital Satellite Receiver, Blu Ray player) can be connected to this switch.
An HDMI cable to the TV and the optical cable to the Playbar.
The audio signal is therefore, bypasses the TV that makes a stereo signal therefrom.
Genuine 5.1 listening and he's really excited and can not understand why many people simply plug the appliance to the TV.
It really is a difference like night and day.
This of course makes the lack of support from Sonos not up for it.
The Playbar can much more than Sonos offer customers.
This solution is officially not supported by Sonos.
Who really wants to have a 5.1 system (and not a bad factitious 5.1 sound) and not want to take distance from Sonos, like me, that can be achieved with this solution.
Sonos is definitely my favorite of music. However, Playbar is a fraud on customers.
Because I can live with my solution, and the Dolby Digital 5.1 sound recodierte (THANK SAMSUNG !!!) really is very good, I forgive 3 stars for Playbar.
1 star deduction for the deception of the customer that all key formats are supported.
1 star deduction for the support and dealing with customers that were left a year entirely in the dark as to whether support for DTS will be submitted or not.
I hope that I could help.
