I have the following setup:... 50 "Panasonic Bluray Player Panasonic, Onkyo 7.2 Receiver and Apple TV The sound is a classic 5.1 Scenario Because all components are network capable, I have the integrated via a switch to the home network I wanted the two Panasonic operations, Apple TV and Onkyo Remote rid.
First of all I have achieved this goal. But my family is not coped with the operating concept and attacked repeatedly to the individual remote controls. So I had then but are always two or three remote controls on the sofa.
The concept of the small display, however nice, everyday but cumbersome. In order to reach the desired function, usually 3-6 clicks are needed from my experience. This is not intuitive enough to me. I would like to see something like Cover Flow. That would be more comfortable.
The real reason to give up the Harmony is in the programming of the function keys. I very much welcomed. If I press "Watch a Movie", everything goes on and I can choose everything right - perfect. BUT:. If even one unit is turned on, such as the television, then turns on everything in the Watch a Movie function, but the TV will return to standby. This is impractical. SECOND BUT: If you press any wrong key, "forgets" the Harmony the operating mode "Watch a Movie" and you have to manually control the functions via the display.
Who is alone at home, for the Harmony 600 is perfect. The interaction with Apple TV is very good. But since I have children who have no desire to get involved in the operational concept, the Harmony is usually adjusted. And that reduces the fun.
That's why I'm going back away from Harmony. And the alternative? I have on the iPad (which is now also always on the sofa) and Onkyo Remote Apple Remote. In the important functions can also be controlled - as long as it does not affect TV and Bluray. And that's why I wait sometimes on the TV, Apple will bring the end of this year.
