Sorcery - but also scary

One of our dogs is extremely jagdtriebig - and in his view, that's all right, because he grew up as a hunter. His first two years he lived semi-wild, wandered about in a game-rich, rural area and jagde heart's content! Where we suspect that he was not very successful. Before he could be shot down, it took on the animal welfare and he came to us.

It was all a very tough first year. But eventually we had a friendly, very facing new housemates, we could be virtually anywhere in Berlin off the lead run. In the evening and at night you can ever encounter foxes or rabbits in the city center, then he was away for a while; That was stressful, but we got to deal with it. We as often as possible went into the woods - Berlin has vast forest areas and in extensive special areas for dogs - and even there we could soon be completely relaxed. The (not so few) boars there are so callous that they hardly notice it - are so boring.

In short, after a really hard time to enter, we had a dog with which we (almost) could move anywhere safely and without a leash us (which is very important to us). As an example: I was able to drive for kilometers by bicycle through downtown Berlin and he ran on the sidewalk, it could not be distracted, stopped at intersections - fantastic!

Then we moved to the countryside, surrounded by woods, fields, wetlands. There are numerous deer, foxes, rabbits, raccoons ...

It's beautiful for us, but everyone was suddenly walk again stress! If the dog was off leash, the chance was very high, that he came somewhere in wild or at least a fresh tracks so that he could not resist her. And if he is first in the hunting instinct, it is absolutely no longer accessible. We have now been through nearly two years. We thought soon to a signal collar but did very difficult for us with the idea.

Now we have this Sprühhalsband and it's incredible!
Having used it only a few times, the dog is transformed. He is to walk a total of more relaxed and more responsive, lets his favorite places are left (typical wild paths, holes in fences, places where he has often encountered wildlife, ...) and can be easily dissuaded from getting into a hunt. Yes, yesterday he even tracked down a rabbit behind my back, it jagde a large lawn and was dissuaded by one beep it - the rabbit right before our eyes!

It must be said that we use something other than recommended the collar by the manufacturer:
Using the remote control can be other than the spray indeed generate a signal (a double, not overly loud beeping).
The manufacturer now recommends using this beeping like a clicker, so as a reward for coming back after the spray. That we do not do.

We proceed as follows: When we see that the dog is in typical hunting attitude, he is called, he will not obey the call, will be beeped, he still does not obey, is sprayed. This has proven wonderful! The spraying will stop him at full speed and is it clearly uncomfortable.
We may have sprayed five times, then the beeping was almost always sufficient. Also on the pure command it responds much more often and more quickly than he would have done earlier. And especially nice: he comes to beeping or spraying directly to us, does not go anywhere else irritated. Then he hugged and praised and remains relaxed with us, without the need to leash him - this broken hunt is clearly done for him.

For us, it is sometimes really like magic before, with minimal effort an incredible result!
We can then relax for hours roaming through the woods and fields and let the dogs run thereby calmed. As a rule, nothing happens and if need be we can intervene.
It is necessary only to have the remote control really handy. Are we with the collar on the go, a finger is always right on the first button. The first day I had it still hanging in the pipe at the neck - that does not work. Until I found it in his hand and the right button, the dog is gone.

We also had concerns that the dog is suffering through the restriction and the stricter regulation, perhaps grumpy or unbalanced. The opposite is the case! It is a total, especially on walks relaxed and overall rather still facing.

From us so full recommendation for this method of education and this collar.

But we are also concerned: It's scary how easily the dog can be changed in its essence and how much do these signals to him!
Our advice is therefore: Insert as a necklace as careful as possible. Give your dog Always the chance of a normal command to respond and use the signals only when it is really necessary.

We still have a young Tibetan Terrier, whose race do not per se tends to hunt, of the barking deer has behind her rushing but, if you copied from his great idol. He's not nearly as jagdtriebig as the others, but it should not even be worse. We therefore wanted to like to have a second collar. But of course it is to operate irrespectively from the first: Each remote control is exactly appeal to a collar. This seems to us an obvious requirement to be (on the remote control is also a channel label) - in fact, it is a problem.

I turned this question to the seller and you unlock them a lot of effort to help me, has looked into numerous boxes, unfortunately in vain. All remotes sent on the same channel. Then I called the manufacturer (in Ireland I think). Yes, when I call to order one there, you can make sure that I get a suitable device. I was this nonsense but so annoyed that I do not have one ordered (it would have been much more expensive).

If there are devices with different channels, then in my opinion you can expect that a) is outside the channel listed on the package and b) that the dealer received equipment ranges with different channels.

For device:
It does - almost always - what it should. The range of 85m seems little, but as we work on view, it has been passed. But if the dogs rummage example and stuck his head in the ground, you often have already ran a little closer (hold high above his head then usually helps). Also earthworks and embankments appear to affect the reach quickly. Sometimes this triggering appears to have no effect. Plus the following notice:
Also we have noticed Lemon Spray although we ordered a set of neutral spray. But this has proved to be an advantage: you can smell namely if a puff is done. Meanwhile, we always mix neutral with lemon.

Addendum:
Meanwhile, we have a suitable second collar, so can also stop the Tibet.
With him, it looks a bit different. The first puffs have confused rather than disturbed him, but now they also stop him (again, after quite a few uses). It has a thick coat, but that seems to be a problem.
What is noticeable in him that makes him wince the beeping alone when he would get an electric shock - and after a total of maybe ten times beeping and 5 or 6 puffs. And he is not actually a sensitive soul. The twitching we can not determine with our bullies, but he immediately interrupts his action and arrives.

Supplement in July 2015
In the time since the above review we have the use of collars increasingly restricted because they were hardly ever needed. Actually, we made it to the dogs only in order to have the sense of security.
I would now say is that we no longer need. This is exemplified in two situations:
1. The dogs are expected a good deal on the way, our hunter's been around a curve, I no longer see him. When he comes into view, I realize that although he is relaxed, but seems to fix something. I am still calm, but my pace accelerating. Behind the curve I see in about 20m away two deer stand, now heading off into the bushes. Both dogs can call easily.
2. (this morning) I walk with the dogs (now there are three) on a road between two crop fields. Suddenly about 10 meters in front of us is a fox from a field, sees us and sprinting course immediately to the next. Both (old) dog set to start running on a whistle, keep them and come back. Without another command would be necessary, turn willingly to me.
Maybe I should add that the dogs were not wearing Sprühhalsbänder in both situations.

And, as I said above, we have the collars used very sparingly, only when it seemed really required - and sometimes, however, also accidentally. Was estimated in nine months maybe 10, maximum 20x sprayed as often beeped and two to three times (much less when Tibet).
From me so still 5 star for this educational method! (But please use wisely!)
