I now sound really raised him since about 3 week in regular Höreinsatz and it is beyond any doubt. Rich bass, clear highs, great dynamics. I have a lot of players to sample belongs and this is clearly one of the best. However, with reservation: The sound quality is highly dependent on the quality of the included material. In my opinion, more than most other players. So get quiet bother making his music in the highest quality encode.
The headphones deserve praise. They cost about 60 euros in retail and so they sound. Something else I did not expect from a 200Euro player also!
Service:
Here one must unfortunately accept a few compromises. The player has a really excellent display, exploited sense it is not. The clarity can sometimes left to want what it is mainly that the player is no visual feedback about the fact that, for example, is located in a subfolder, but stubbornly continue on from list to list. Here would be a lot more been inside with just a little creativity on the part of GUI programmers. Too Bad.
But all is not a problem if you previously properly defined its playlists on PC and sorted. If one does not, one has already a problem: It should be added directly on the player neither possible songs in a playlist, which still
remove or generally delete files completely (this also applies to photos and videos!) Here, of course, raises the question; Sony WHY !?
Anyone can 20Euro cheap player. I really hope that this will be submitted later via firmware update.
Apart from this minor shortcoming or larger (everyone must decide for themselves just how important it is to him on the way to edit playlists) affords the player in the operation, no major weaknesses. Only the volume knob is a bit inconvenient (because side). Here Sony had easily can incorporate an option that allows to use the navigation key and volume control. Incomprehensible why this has not happened, a different function can be freely assigned namely on the cross or change ..
Bluetooth:
Caution: Anyone who thinks he could transfer songs via Bluetooth to your player is mistaken .. Only the sound through headphones or headset or (simple) control commands, such as leave of car radios to transmit / receive ..
Why? The only know ... With Sony Walkman handsets yes go well.
Processing:
In short: it is excellent and was decisive for the purchase. The player weighs only 50Gramm (!) Is extremely flat and completely from a anodized metal (I suspect magnesium) manufactured. And so it should be. I want for 200Euro and material expense of perhaps 30-80g simply look / feel, as is the case with other manufacturers no plastic. For the price simply needs to be inside a valent metal housing.
Video, Photo ...:
Again, the quality is almost outstanding, apart from iPod touch the best thing I've ever seen on a portable player. A continuous zoom in Photo playback would have been desirable.
Podcasts (also iTunes) can be the way without any problems on the player play, Sony even offers exclusive (and free) which on the homepage.
Features:
It lacks a power supply and a neck strap or the like. An attachment is however available, therefore not a problem, something most people may still have at home hanging on any USB flash drive.
The one with the power supply is of course a totally different thing. At home it is not a problem, the battery lasts for a few charge / discharge cycles actually well over 35 (!) Hours. For the holidays but you need then a USB socket or the (optional to be acquired) power supply.
Conclusion:
Definitely a buy recommendation. In the 3 points the person most important to me are (processing, sound quality, battery life) convinced me of the NWZ 828 really completely. So if nothing stops the "iTunes shackles" or who simply does not feel like the Apple touch operation concept for this player right.
I got to be a point deduction for operating deficiencies but, hopefully doing something else with the next firmware update.
