Spurrier at his best

Badlands (Crossed) (Paperback)

Customer Review

Short to Crossed: What was referred to at the beginning as a clone of "The Walking Dead", today is one of the best series in the market and each compared to TWD is just plain wrong. Crossed is like 28 Days / Weeks Later on LSD. Infected murder and disgrace through the area. Around the globe. There are no fixed main roles since repeatedly other authors lend a hand and tell a new story. Every now and then there is a reunion with them, and a well-known figure. I am since the first edition of "Crossed: Badlands" here and also know the previous series. The great concept, every few editions exchange authors and illustrators, to start a new, independent action, ensures that it is never boring. Well, come in the end to the story. But when Simon Spurrier can prepare themselves for a treat. His story in here contained a hippie, putting a biker and a pregnant woman who flees from her husband, is best grindhouse cinema. It is slanted, bloody and scary funny if the group must exist not only against infected, but also against the followers of a mad priest. Each character has its own goal and a motivation in this story. The Hippie is looking for a Super drug, the bikers want revenge for the murder of his friends and the woman is hoping to save her child.
Rarely I could the next spending as little as expected in this miniseries. Spurrier is for me a, if not the best Crossed-author. You never know what to expect. And that's good because Spurrier always surprises. The series runs fantastic, is now 60 and arrived planned to issue at least 110 just in number. So we will still have many years of fun with it and hopefully Spurrier looks so often it goes past.
