Only my son weighs not much with weights, but like the scale used to compare weights of various items, quantities or liquids and then attempts to both scales into balance. Since the mechanism is visible, one can perfectly understand the principle of weighing here. If the child is larger, the different weights are certainly also help in understanding the addition.
The scale also makes a very strong impression and has even survived a "Mitbringtag" in kindergarten already without prejudice. Even here there is no problem with taking out the weights.
