In terms of build quality the SmartControl Classic has definitely convinced: The unit is of robust construction and in the assembled state nothing wobbles around. Only the clip mechanism for receiving the shaving head has first made a rather delicate impression on me. After I then, however, many other razor was in his hand, I was also a different opinion: With so many razor (even with branded products) falling a the components (shearing blade, blade, etc.) when removing the shaving head directly opposed. The assembly is then often a test of patience. When Smart Control is all anchored firmly clipped once. I used it now for 6 months every day and so far nothing has been broken.
I also see it as a real advantage that the SmartControl no moving "3D" shaving head has. According to advertising these moving shaving heads are optimally adapted to the facial contour. It is, however, remember that you have to press an electric shaver with slight force to the skin so that hairs are cut as short as possible. In my experience it is with a movable shaving head much more difficult to establish the necessary "downforce", since the movable shaving head constantly tilts. Mostly you do intuitively follows: one "turn" the movable shaving head until it stops in order, so you can build the strength back without the shaving head can tilt away. The supposed benefits of moving the shaving head (adjustment to the facial contour) is thus then, and turns out to be a real drawback: the devices with movable shaving head can be the necessary pressure only conditionally, are expensive to produce, in addition also more expensive and are additional moving parts prone to defects.
Apart from that I liked the Smart Control also in terms of design best: almost all other razors have awkward ornaments or chrome strips and see this often like Minatur spaceships from the toy store. Actually strange that the razor manufacturers still rely on so exaggerated design - finally rather simple and minimalist design is currently popular.
With the shaving Quailtät I am also very satisfied. Stubborn hair are the latest off when I went for the third time over it. The cleaning after shaving is also quite simple: I've had enough usually to remove the shaving head and knock out the razor shortly. Every now and then I rinse it under running water.
Even the battery is very grateful. With daily shave he goes with me about 2.5 weeks. If the razor by the way some games accidentally goes empty, you can run it directly from the mains or charging cable without him having to recharge first.
Conclusion: Among the brand models this shaver is one of the best, yet is (by all devices that I had in my hand) is best processed. He waived marketing bells and whistles and looks even more plain and solid from. By the way he shaves still good and has a long battery life. Therefore, without hesitation 5 Stars!
