Stagnate The X-Men

Musically Of course, the most recent film in the series Days of the Future Past (The Future of the German past) was indeed very well received. For this I can not say anything, but it's all here as well to the music.
After the two Wolverine scores of Harry Gregson-Williams and Marco Beltrami were only average stuff and Henry Jackman handed in a good score with wonderful themes for First Class, I was very excited about the return of John Ottman, the Yes 11 years before the second part could add sound. X-Men 2 was a nice score for me and at the same level as First Class. But was much more important to me that it would finally give something continuity in the series (as I said, musically speaking). Through the countless composers, this was unfortunately not yet possible to have even if shown as Harry Potter, that it is possible!
But unfortunately I was disappointed with Ottman's last post again

John Ottman takes its main theme from Part 2 actually go back. The only problem is that it is heard only at the beginning and at the end. Large variations in vain, while it would be super but offered with the old stuff to try new directions, especially if you have a superhero film with time travel elements. And here's my main problem: A movie like X-Men takes in the seventh edition finally a soundtrack that plays with different themes, after all, hardly a franchise like X-Men offers so perfectly to it. Different characters with different abilities and making Ottman? Sure, he composed a good subject for Xavier, but that's it. Even I, as a non-fan of the series know that it also Storm, Cyclops, Magneto and Mystique is next to Wolverine. But as soon as what is offered here musically. The Copy and Paste method seems to have been used here too. Ottman composed without much innovation and without its own character. The music sounds like Room & Co (just the Inception horns inserts in Paris Pandemonium), then tries sometimes obsessively precisely not to sound like Media Ventures, thereby but hollow and uninteresting. Often the pieces are simply bored, as hard as that sounds. And I'm someone who has no great claim to a soundtrack. You must sound good especially and does Days of the Future Past sometimes, but otherwise there is not much to say about Ottman's work.

Some Action parts are again very successful and the two closing songs are great, but a lot more I can not abgewinnen this soundtrack. 76 minutes of music there, so quantitatively top.

Conclusion: I would much rather have had Jackman again in retrospect, who composed two fantastic themes for First Class. Sure, the music is again making a pretty good character in the film and support the scenes for the moment. But detached from the screen, Ottman's score sounds like the typical Hollywood-0 8 15 sound that can be heard today in every other movie only highlights remain the two themes and a few good action Parts
So my X-Men Soundtrack marathon has ended. Origins, Wolverine and The Days of the Future Past are in my eyes the weakest scores, First Class and X 2 are good and Kamen's first X-Men Post and especially John Powell's The Last Stand are my favorites! So if another composer would return for the next movie, then please Powell!
