So, now I'm trying here in the telegram style to give my experience with the D90 again:
PLUS:
++ Has a "certain something". One falls in love with this camera. She has somehow "sex appeal", and is incredibly comfortable to hold
++ Case makes a very stable, high-quality impression (much better than other cheaper DSLR's, the difference is great).
++ Size and weight suitable for big men's hands, yet not too big or too bulky for woman hands. Very suitable for both sexes. The D90 has a perfect, medium size for a DSLR, simple ideal.
++ Very good picture quality! And complete absence of noise until ISO 1600! At ISO 3200 noise only very slightly, depending on the subject also did not exist. Very good sharpness, detail resolution, and very neutral, realistic colors! The color management is very realistic and neutral. Out of grandstanding aligned but on fidelity.
++ Very good white balance, which is almost always true, I have never correct the white balance on the computer, with other cameras I have to correct every second image
++ Autofocus and tripping time very quickly. 4.5 frames per second. Operate time 64 ms + faster AF 200 milliseconds
++ Many functions and "gimmicks" (but that are fun and useful are) and settings
++ Very good Live View function for a DSLR (although AF a little too slow in Live View mode)
++ HD video 720p (but without AF while recording only manually -. But you get used to it AF only at the beginning of video recording)
++ Very good, sharp, joyous colors 3-inch display with 920,000 pixels (!)
++ Very good, large, bright, true prism finder of glass! The BEST viewfinder in this price range, prismatic glass (real glass, not plastic-seekers as in other, cheaper DSLR). Such seekers have otherwise only the professional DSLR's cost three times
++ Distortions in WW range of 18-105 zoom lens can be used in the
camera Retouch be corrected! (Only manually, not automatically as in the D5000). Ingenious function that works very well, I have often used! But only works with G-Nikkor lenses with CPU such as the AF-S VR 18-105G from the kit
++ In general, the in-camera * * image processing of the D90 a brilliant thing, you can straighten photos, correct distortion, color correction and sharpness or precision, edit RAW (!), Apply filters, etc. etc. Simply brilliant. It takes almost no more Photoshop is fun and useful
++ The VR (Vibration Reduction), optical image stabilization of Kitobjektivs, works great, sharp images to 1/15 sec at tele 157mm (105mm) possible, ie 3 to 4 values / diaphragm improvement. Quite excellent, am more than satisfied
++ AF and VR kit lens on fast and pleasant silent. Supple, you hear nothing, it also vibrates nothing
++ Excellent bracketing function for HDR images, 2 or 3 shots adjustable and 12:33 to 2.0 light values in 1/3 steps set. Herumwurschteln Bracketing directly controllable via a button on the side, you do not have in menus and submenus
++ Very many important functions are directly accessible via buttons, the D90 has 19 buttons / switches on the housing and 2 on Kitobjektiv = 21 important functions can be controlled directly via keys
++ HDMI connection available (but no HDMI cable included)
++ The D90 Hi-Speed Sync is enabled with appropriate flash units. This means that the camera can flash up to a shutter speed of 1 / 4000s (!) Sync. This is ideal for fill-in flash outdoors under daylight conditions. I own the Nikon SB-900 flash unit and so that I can actually flash to 1 / 4000s, at the beginning I thought it was a joke. You have to adjust under e5 FP High-Speed Sync = ON and then goes the in the camera menu. (In the default configuration, Hi-speed sync is off). Then an icon "FP" appears on the display of the SB-900. FP = Flash Power. Then set to go with the Hi-speed sync. With the SB-600, it is also! With the SB-400 is not against it.
++ Built-in flash controlled i-TTL and Nikon CLS. It can be connected as a master for a remote flash system here controls up to 4 cameras in Groups 2 and also controls the flash output of other devices (slaves). The whole system called CLS (Creative Lighting System) and works great.
MINUS:
- The housing is not sealed, such as with the D300, K20D, K7 or 5D MkII. Rain, sand, dust, mist (humid air) are poison for the D90
- Kitobjektiv recorded relatively strong in the WW area, but can be corrected internally manually with the camera and even fun, got used to it. One can easily correct these distortions and the PC with the programs DxO Optics Nikon Capture NX2 or that cost money, however. Otherwise, I think the 18-105 VR kit lens very good! I bought DxO Optics, half the price of Nikon Capture NX2
- You have to buy expensive software to get the most out of the D90 out (DxO, Capture NX, Photoshop). At least one software for correcting the distortion WW was supposed to be included, I think. Bundled ViewNX software does not offer this possibility and is therefore not sufficient. But: As I said, you can the WW-distortion with the camera * internal * Software correct, the D90 has a built-in, so to speak Photoshop software;) Only the computer I miss the opportunity to correct distortions
- Mattscheibe not interchangeable, but for me irrelevant
- Audio for video recordings only mono; No external microphone can be connected
The D90 has (19 + 2 on the housing on the lens) which facilitate 21 direct keys usability enormously. 21 important functions are quickly and directly via buttons / switches accessible, things could hardly be. The four arrow keys on the circular menu, the mode dial and the 2 steering wheels are not counted. In addition to the keys, there are more than 100 different settings in the software menu, which shall be handled easily and excellently over the 920,000-pixel display, then the D90 can absolutely individually to each personal taste adapt ("personalized"). All settings work perfectly, so far I have not found a single bug in the firmware (version 1.00).
After 2 years and 25,000 trips I am of the D90 still as enthusiastic as on the first day.
Conclusion: I can recommend the D90.
