Not having the patience to wait for the release of the soundtrack CD (my patience reducing stock as & as the film approaches) I bought this MP3 version of history put me in the mood . The first pieces are new themes & one that its effect is clearly "Gotham's Reckoning" heard in the film of the prologue (which is also the theme of Bane). Following disappoint (including "Underground Army" that is a layer of one of the themes of "The Dark Knight", same for "Nothing Out There" taken from "Batman Begins" and "Despair" simple assembly of 2 themes heard in the first 2 episodes). I admit I was disappointed by the number of pieces that are simple rearrangements of the previous soundtrack. Then came THE song "Imagine the Fire" as long (more than 7 minutes) which is intense, I think, almost justifies the purchase of the album.
Last disappointment (& not least): Europeans that we are not entitled to reserved only 3 bonus tracks in the US ... Yet these 3 pieces 2 are great ("The Shadows Betray You" & "The End" the aptly named - only the filthy techno remix is more than dispensable as it is stain). It is this reason that makes me put that 3 stars (with 2 pieces mentioned above I would be mounted 4/5)
In short: a BO correct but far short of the expected level. Hans Zimmer had marveled with "Inception," "The Dark Knight" etc. whereas here it makes a creditable job with some engineering tips.
